Benjamin Peyton Ashby - born 30 April 1810 in Clark County, Virginia died 8 May 1880 in St. Charles County, Missouri sp. Mary Ann Keller - born 5 July 1824 in Clark County, VA married 29 January 1840 in Frederick County, VA died 5 November 1844 in St. Charles County, MO (Parents of Mary Ann Keller were Jacob Keller and Catherine Groves.) Catherine Elizabeth Ashby - born 30 January 1844 in St. Charles County, MO Living with Benjamin P. Ashby and his daughter as shown in the 1850, 1860 census was Algie ( Alcinda ) Gold, who according to Benjamin's Bible had married James Gold in 1819. According to Frederick County marriage records, Alice Corder married James Gold in 1819. Algie Gold's age on the census was compatible with the possibility of her being the mother of Benjamin Ashby, and the family legend has been that his mother's maiden name was Corder, but I can find no documentation. The last time I saw Reese's Ashby book, the listing for Benjamin Peyton Ashby was incorrect if I am to believe the information in his Bible and the census records from MO and his cemetery marker.
