Sue, thanks for the letter. My question was WHERE IS HOPTON. I know about Salop etc. as I have been researching there for years. Plus my mother was born in Whitchurch Sal. I am researching about 25 names in the Salop area. But the Ashby Data that you sent says: 20 May 1659 - Thomas Ashby of HOPTON, Sal, sawyer ................ So I am wondering where Hopton is as I can't find it on a Atlas. I found Hopton Castle (about 10 miles west of Ludlow) and Hopton Cangeford (about 5 miles north east of Ludlow). But no Hopton alone. I belong to the Midmarch List. I will put the question to them. Incidentally I have used the LDS research facilities for years and can agree that they are great. I also own all the CDs that they have put out over the last couple of years. Over the years I have brought in almost every fiche on Shropshire that is available through the LDS and I own some of the Shropshire Family History Society fiche as well. I am presently transcribing 45 of them on the Prees Sal area. Unfortunately there do not appear to be any Ashby families in that area. Thanks anyhow. Faith Butticci
