It's available through Heritage Quest and Ancestry.com. Both of which should be available at your local library. Some libraries offer home access to Heritage Quest and all you need is a library card. The USGenWeb Project will have links to specific counties where your ancestor's lived and should provide information as to where you can get vital records such as birth and death certificates. http://usgenweb.org/ as well as other sources. Another new and up and coming FREE resource is Family Search Labs provided by the LDS church http://search.labs.familysearch.org/ No resource is perfect since human beings are involved in all aspects of record keeping there are going to be errors. oh and by the way -- HAVE FUN.
