My Family emigrated from Germany, Hannover, Herrenhausen in 1954 arriving in Melbourne, Australia in January 1955. My ancestors come from a small town called Seelze near Hannover. They where Blacksmiths and lived in Seelze No.18 at the corner of Bremerstrasse and Schmiedestrasse. The house is now the Oldest house in Seelze having been built in 1659. The first Asche that lived there came from Luthe No.20 another small village near Hannover. His name was Christian Heinrich Asche born in21-Aug-1763. The last Asche to live in this house was Heinrich Asche who died in 1991? He would have been a second or theird cousin of mine. I have uploaded to the FamilyTreeMaker Online my information. If your are interested then look for hasche or if that is not enough I will send you the link. Regards Holger Edmund karl Asche

    1. Helpful Hints #1
    2. Joan L. Asche
    3. I thought now would be a good time to post a few helpful hints to make your participation on Rootsweb Mailing Lists a pleasant one. These suggestions are not geared towards anyone one person so please don't take it personally. Some of you may already know about this so think of it as a refresher, and Newbies please read carefully. 1.)Don't send TEST messages to a list that you have not received any mail from. * First, check the LIST ARCHIVES to see if any mail has been posted to the list. *You can find the archives by going to http://lists.rootsweb.com/, find your list, and at the bottom of the page you will see links to the archives. *If you have missed out on list mail go to the PASSWORD CENTRAL http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Here you can enter your email address and see what lists you are currently subscribed. It's possible that your address may have bounced off. Password Central will also prove information on how to post and unsubscribe from any mailing list. *Also check the HELP Page http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ to see if any announcements are available regarding server or ISP problems. * Before reporting a technical problem to the help desk contact the list admin. and let them know what your problem is. There is no point in overwhelming the help staff if it is something a list admin. can help you with. * If the list doesn't have an admin. - why not consider becoming one? Just a thought. :-) Sincerely, Joan Asche List Admin. -- Is today your birthday? 3. WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT Portsmouth Times Saturday, June 5, 1866 Clemens-Asche Nuptials One of Portsmouth's prominent young Teutons ended a single life last Wednesday evening, and is now a pronounced benedict. The contracting parties moved in the front rank of German Circles. The groom is Edward Clemens, nephew and clerk a A. Brunner, and the bride, Miss Minnie Asche the only daughter of William Asche. The ceremony occurred at the same hour as the marriage of the President and Miss Folsom. The ritual was preformed by Rev. Baltzer, of the Fifth Street Lutheran Church. The attendants where Charles Windel, Jr. and Miss Annie Werner. About seventy-five guests extended congratulations to the wedded pair during the supper, which was a bounteous spread, mingled with choice music and champagne, after which they were driven to the steamer Bostons, upon which they took passage for a tour to Cincinnati, Athens, and other Ohio cities and towns. Upon their return they will reside on north Market street. It was a happy gathering and the Times' wish is that the remainder of their life will be compete with as much enjoyment and glee as on the festive night of last Wednesday. 1. [ASCHE] Edward F. Asche

    3. I found the following article quite by accident in the Newark Advocate, Newark OH. November 20, 1959 All-Around Bad Day Is Suffered by Cincy Man Cincinnati (AP) Thursday was a bad day all around for Edward F. ASCHE, 50. First, a gas heater ignited rags and papers in his two-room apartment and he was rescued by firemen. The fireman smelled more that smoke however, so police arrested ASCHE on a charge of drunkenness. Next, Secret Service agents paid him a visit in his cell at the jail and arrested him again on a charge of forging his dead mother's social security checks. He waived a hearing on the last charge when arraigned before U. S. Commissioner Graham P. HUNT Jr. I suspect that this Edward F. Asche is in my family but I can't prove it. If any one can claim him I would very much like to hear from you. I would like to find his parents. Joan L.
