Surnames: Asche, Vanosdol Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JUB.2ACEB/99.1.2 Message Board Post: Nancy, My name is Bryce Stevens, a grandson of Audra Vanosdol Stevens Palmer, whose sister Sally Vanosdol was married to one Oliver Lewis Asche, who was born 1908 in Ripley County, and died 1989, Hagerstown, IN. I am writing to your 2005 address and hoping this reaches you (which I can now say did not). I've been doing genealogy for many, many years, and have an awful lot on the Vanosdol family. But, with my Granny living in Ripley County, and Uncle Ollie living in Hagerstown, I think I only met him and Aunt Sally about three times in my life, and know nothing of his children. I have recently been in touch with Sherri Miller, of Palm City, FL, regarding possible family connections. She is a great-niece of Oliver Lewis Asche, and in trying to answer a couple of her questions, I realized how very little I know about Uncle Ollie's family. If we are speaking of the same man, I would enjoy hearing from you. I am more than willing to share my Vanosdol data, of course. But you may well be a second cousin, and for that alone I'd like to hear from you. The one time I remember visiting Aunt Sally and Uncle Ollie in Hagerstown, I was about 11, and hopped on a horse, bareback, in their pasture, which promptly took off and made a hard right turn right before a pile of rocks, where I landed, cracking a couple of ribs! Cordially, Bryce Stevens brycestevens@comcast.net

His name was Dennis Arnold Asche. His adopted parents were Arnold and Ruth Asche. My dad committed suicide in the late 70's and my grandma died in the early 90's. I'm not sure if there is any correlation, but I too have been searching for his birth parents and have had no luck. Family has said that my dad was told that his birth parents were musicians in CA. I'm not sure if that is true or not. I hope you find out what you are looking for.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JUB.2ACEB/108.1 Message Board Post: Dear Frances, One of my great-grandmothers was a Wyzanski - Rebecca Wyzanski, who married my great-grandfather, Max Werbalski, in Boston on May 22, 1873. I searched Ancestry.com for your Leah and found her in the 1900 and 1920 censuses. In 1900, she was listed as "Leah F." with a birth date of June 1897. Her parents were Maurice (born April 1856 in Poland) and Eva B. (born June 1867 in Michigan). Maurice was a dry goods merchant, and the family lived at 114 Newton Street in Marlborough (Essex County), MA. Leah had 2 older sisters: Eudice (born Dec. 1890 in MA) and Essner (born July 1893 in MA). Eva had lost one child already. In 1920, Maurice seems to have lost his first wife, Eva, since his wife is listed as Rebecca H., born in Canada and listed as having immigrated to the US in 1910. The family now rented at 15 Parkman Street in Brookline, MA, and Maurice was still listed as a dry goods merchant. Two children were living at home: Leah, age 23 and Elsie M., age 7 and 11 months (obviously born to Rebecca, not Eva). Eudice and Essner had almost certainly married and left home by this time. My mother remembers Eudice. I was unable to find an Ira Asche and Asche or a Leah Asche or Asch anywhere in Ancestry.com's on line records. Good luck, Laura Smith

I am not able to help directly with your Query, but the following may help. A) My Ancestors where ASCHEN from Schloss Ricklingen near the Steinhuder Meer. Attached see a PDF chart showing all those that came before the ASCHE's. I may be able to source from my German relatives more information if required. B) there is a history of all the farm holdings in Schätsendorf and Egestorf My Relatives in Schätsendorf have a copy of each. We could ask them to look into these books and see if there is any information.
