If you look at a map of Hannover, Lower Saxony you will see above and slightly to the right a body of water called the Steinhuder Meer. just below this body of water is a large town called Wunstorf which has a area called Schloss Ricklingen. This is were the oldest known relative lived his surname was "Aschen". A desendent later moved to a village called Luthe, which is very close to Schloss Ricklingen, and changed his name to "Asche" his son married into a blacksmith and small farm in Seelze which is app 5km from Hannover-Linden. I have aquired a copy of the Kopfsteuer Lists (Headtax) for Callenberg for the year 1689 which give a few "Aschen" names but no "Asche". My late husband had a Cincinnati connection. Who is the father of your William G. Asche? I recall the names Duggins in my research but had a file lost and that info went with it. We come from Conrad Asche > August m. Elizabeth Hueber > Harry Fred m. Edith Seiling > Albert m. Garnet Birch > Howard W. "Wes" Asche Conrad did have other children: William m. Dorothea Sturckman, Mary m. William Seiling and Frederick m. Louise Engelbert. August and Elizabeth are buried in Walnut Hills in Cincinnati, and Frederick is also buried in Cincinnati but I don't know the cemetery. Harry Fred is buried in Scioto County as are the Seilings. Another Asche line from Conrad's son William went to Toledo and are buried there.
