Thanks for responding to my post. May I ask how you are related to Cynthia and James? There are several items in your records that you may want to think about changing. For instance, I am a direct descendant of Archibald & Matilda Williamson through their daughter Hannah Leuvica Asbury Harbaugh. 1. Matilda Williamson Asbury's mother was Nancy Jewell, John M. Williamson's second wife. Nancy Jewell Williamson died when Matilda was about 2-3 years old, so Charlotte Millard, John's 3rd wife raised all 4 of John and Nancy's Children. I have Census Record and marriage records for all 4 of the children, and the death record of Matilda Williamson Asbury. (The death certificate I just received a few days ago.) And even though Charlotte is listed on Archibald and Matilda's marriage record, she is not the birth mother, but she was the only mother that Matilda knew. 2. Cynthia and James Walker are found in the 1900 and 1920 census records with 1 daughter Nellie M. In the 1920 Census Cynthia (spelled Sinthia) is found married to George Pittard in Galesburg, Illinois. In the 1930 Census, Cynthia is found married to William A. (Albert?) Asbury, in Galesburg, Illinois. 3. Clear back now to George Asbury and Mary Ann Taylor. The marriage record you have took place in Fauquier County. If you notice the date of the marriage as 1780, please note the birth years of the children to this couple. William Asbury's birth year is listed as 1776, and there are two or three others who are born prior to 1780. The next time I go to the FHL in Salt Lake (in about 2 weeks) I plan on looking up the marriage bond record in Fauquier for the George Asbury and Mary Ann Molly Taylor who were married in 1780. Do you have documentation for the "George Robert Asbury"? I have never seen the George Asbury who died in TAzewell County, listed as George Robert. On some of this old stuff, I may be wrong and would like to know any documented information that would help me correct my records. 4. You also mention that Archibald and Matilda Asbury had children. I only have proof of nine. But I do have a child listed with a question mark "Joseph" born about 1890 in TAzewell. I have no proof of this birth. Any documentation and/or sources you can share with me would be gratefully appreciated. If I can help with anything please let me know. Lois K. Parry _loiparr@aol.com_ (mailto:loiparr@aol.com) P.S. Do you have any information on Margaret Rebecca Asbury who married Arlo (?) Haynes? I would love to see any information that you have on the other children of Archibald and Matilda Asbury.
My gggrantfather William Henry Asbury married Cynthia Hall (spelled various ways) and then divorced her at the time and place in question. His father was Richard Asbury and mother Nancy Yeatman. While the rest of their kids are listed in Carl Asbury's book- somehow he and his were not. I think it was William H. Asbury not William A. Asbury.
