HORNE. She was daughter of Nathaniel S. JENNINGS, and Mary Ann (Craig) JENNINGS, who were in the 1850 Federal Census of Arkansas, Yell County, Dardanelle Township, dated Oct. 10, 1850. Nathaniel S. JENNINGS family listed on page 472, line #6, swelling #2, Family #2. Nathaniel's age listed as 44 yrs. and wife, Mary Ann (CRAIG) JENNINGS listed as 37. My great-grandmother, their daughter, Mary Ann Polly, listed as 10 yrs. The 1860 Census of Arkansas, Yell County, Dardanelle Twp., dated June 12, 1860, lists Mary JENNINGS on p. 1021, line #10, dwg. 123, family 123, with age give as 40 yrs. She is listed as farmer, with all children listed except William D., who has probably married by that date. Nathaniel Scales and Mary Ann JENNINGS had children: 1. William David JENNINGS, b. 1836, Marion Co., Tennessee; d. March 18, 1919, Dardanelle, Yell Co., AR; m. Jennie E. HALL. 2. James H. JENNINGS, b. 1865, Mississippi 3. Mary Ann "Polly" JENNINGS, b. 1840l, in Lafayette Co., Mississippi; d. 1903 in Logan Co., AR m. William W. HORNE, b. 1837 in Johnson Co., Missouri. (Believe they married in Dardanelle, Yell Co., Arkansas, since her parents were living there.) William was son of Amos and Lavinia HORNE, of Johnson Co., Missouri, originally from Tennessee. 4. Eliza J. JENNINGS, b. 1844, Texas 5. Richard M. JENNINGS, b. 1846, Mississippi 6. Virginia T. JENNINGS, b. 1848,Tennessee 7. Nathaniel S. b. 1849, Tennessee 8. George W. JENNINGS, b. 1852, Arkansas, d. 1875, Yell Co., AR The 1870 Census of Arkansas, Yell Co., Dardanelle Twp., lists Mary A. Jennings as 56 yrs., with two sons, Richard and George W. working on farm. Her older two sons, William and Nathaniel, are also listed on this 1870 census, married with families. William David JENNINGS seems to have been well-known in Yell County, and I would very much like to hear from any descendants. I have some information on both the JENNINGS and the HORNE family ancestors. Would love to share, and exchange information.
