Mr. Gardner was born December 4, 1935 in Belleville, AR to Earnest and Eunice I. Dean Gardner. He was a Vietnam veteran, retiring from the Army in 1974 after serving 20 years. He was a former Yell County Deputy Sheriff, and was a member of the Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3341, Dardanelle. Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Zelma M. George Gardner, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Linda Gardner, Arkansas City, KS and Keith R. and Kim Gardner, Russellville; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy M. and Allen George, Morrilton; seven grandchildren, Rachelle R. Ballinger, Karrie M. Ballinger, James R. Ballinger, Brandy L. Gardner, Beth A. Gardner, Christian M. Gardner, and Emily M. Gardner. Services were Tuesday, April 25, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle, AR with Rev. Euel Nordin officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle, AR.
