I'm looking for Louis and Mary Saphronia's family. > *********** COPIED EMAIL TO JAMES BOYLE FOLLOWS ******************* I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth H. WOOD(s) b. 1818 in Tenn. She married Constantine LADD in about 1848 and they lived their married life in Dutch Creek Tp., Yell Co., Arkansas. One of their five boys was named Isaac Wood LADD, so I suspect Elizabeth's father to be the Isaac WOOD listed on the 1850 census of Yell Co., although Elizabeth says her father was b. in VA. 1850 Upper Fourche Tp., Yell Co., Ark. #47/47 Isaac Wood, 66, Farmer, $300, NC Lucy F. Wood, 23, f, TN John Wood, 13, m, Ark Fanny, 11, f, Ark David C., 9, m, Ark (I have a little more on this family if you are interested.) #10/10 Samuel Wood, 23, Farmer, Ark. 1850 census of Springcreek Tp., Yell Co., Ark. #5/5 Obediah Wood, 28, Farmer, Ark. Sarah Wood, 30, Alabama I did not list the children when I read this census. In an old issue (Vol. 9, No. 2, 1984) of the Yell County Historical & Genealogical Association Bulletin, pg. 49, is an article asking for information on any of these families. The woman posting the information later wrote a book. Her name and address in 1982 was Ann Petillo Bowie, 2809 So. Western, Oklahoma City, OK 73109. The families listed were Hardin George and his wife Angeline Miller and children, Henry Stinnett and his wife Catherine and their children, and Obadiah Wood and his wife Sarah and their children. Obadiah [her spelling] Wood and Sarah had the following children: 1. James Wood married Mary Ann Cannon 2. John Henry Wood married Arminta Wood (a cousin from Marion Co., Ark.) 3. Hannah Wood 4. Sarah T. Wood 5. Lewis Cass Wood married Mary Safhronia Stinnett [buried in the Stinnett Cemetery, Yell Co.] 6. George Wood 7. Nancy M. Wood 8. Margaret Wood 9. Charity Wood [A note by Ann reads, "one of these daughters married a Mr. Vaughn in Yell Co.] This would seem to be your Nancy Wood. >From Ancestry.com, an Obediah Wood is listed on the 1840 census of Union Tp., Marion County, Ark. The 1860 census of Spring Creek Tp., PO Danville, Yell Co., Ark. pg. 118 #889/889 Obadiah Wood, 39, m, AR, farmer, $3,000/$3,500 Sarah Wood, 42, f, AL James, 22, m, AR John Wood, 20, m, AR Hannah, 16, f, AR Sarah, 14, f, AR Lewis, 10, m, AR George, 7, m, AR Nancy, 5, f, AR Margaret, 3, f, AR Charity, 3/12, f, AR >From www.familysearch.com, an Obediah WOOD married Sarah A. GRAY in about 1837 "of Arkansas." When I wasn't researching this line as much, I made the following note on a 1900 census...Delaware Tp., Yell Co., Ark., #297/309 through #299/311 WOOD families--oldest is Obediah b. 1821 in Ark, father and mother b. Tenn. Sorry, I didn't write the families down. Perhaps this will be of some help to you. I don't know if Obediah is a son of Isaac. I haven't found that connection as yet. I'd appreciate it if you keep an eye out for my Elizabeth H. Wood. Let me know if you think I can help you further.
