Recently my dad, Julian Nunley who is 81, and I made a trip to Dardanelle, Arkansas. Dad started telling me a story about what he calls "The Red Dinky Train." The train would come through Dardanelle and would go to Paris. I believe the track ran on what is now Hwy 22. Dad said as a boy he would run to "Red Hill" and watch it as it went through town. He describes it as looking like a Trolley car. Can anyone tell me where I might be able to find more information and also a picture of this "Red Dinky Train?" Thanks, "Judy"
I recall passing through Dardanelle a few times back in the 1940's and seeing the Dardanelle Russellville narrow gauge train sitting at what was probably the depot. I don't think it ran on SR 22 but may have ran nearby. I recall it was sitting on the right hand side of SR22 going toward Russellville. True or not I heard that the train was sold to Knots Berry Farm who moved it one of their amusement parks other than the one at Anaheim, CA. Or maybe it was Disney. Anyone else know? Jack in Florida
