Some of earliest memories is going from our house , across the railroad tracks and on to McBride's store. I was afraid of everything when I was a small girl and Mom would have to drag me screaming across the tracks <G> I liked being in the store. It was a treasure trove of good things. Last time I was in it was last year. It had not been touched or updated since Guinn's Grandpa McBride was there. I was fascinated by the goods in that store. Guinn said to paint or repair it 'all this stuff would have to be moved out and it would never go back in' He had a wood burning stove in the store and parched peanuts just waiting to be eaten. Boy, they were good ! My brother and myself have many wonderful memories of our youth in Havana. Guinn and his family were good people and wonderful friends to my family. Even if he wasn't into genealogy, he is getting the privilege of meeting his ancestors --- something that we can all look forward to doing. Mary Harkey Russell bird@scrtc.com
