Merritt, Born Feb. 1859 (not necessarily in Arkansas), and buried in Petillo Hill cemetery near Centerville, Yell County. Unable to get any further. These are the sisters to my ancestor Constantine Ladd, b. 1812 in Indiana. Joseph HALL performed the marriage of Milton LADD (Constantine's brother) to Mary MORSE in November 1859 in Yell County, Arkansas.

Is anyone familiar with the family of Samuel Jones on 1860 Yell Co census in Lower Lafore Twsp? Mary E Jones Marion, IL

My great-great grandfather was a Free Will Baptist Minister in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. He was with a Church called the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church, which was in Harvey, I think. I have been told that he was the second pastor for that Church. His name was Benjamin Christopher Harris. He was also called B. C. Harris or Chris Harris. The last record I find of him was when he performed a marriage ceremony on February 18, 1901. The couple he married were from the community of Nebraska, which no longer exists. This community was near Nola in Scott County. B. C. Harris lived in Gravelly in the 1900 census. I am trying to determine when he died. I have been unable to find any obituary or other record of his death. I believe him to be buried in Parks Cemetery near the Yell County line at Nola. His daughter, Missouri Harris Cloninger, wrote a letter in November of 1961 that her father had passed away 57 years before, which would have made his death about 1903. She stated that he had been a minister for over 40 years. I am hoping that you may be able to either help with some information about him or tell me where I might write to find out when he died and perhaps other information as well. Charlene Holland

In this book I have, "A Genealogical and Historical Atlas of the United States of America," by E. Kay Kirkham, it lists the towns and counties in the 1880 census. Centre Point (yes, spelled that way) was a Post Office in Howard County and had a population of 316. Hope this helps.
