    3. Don, Arizona Tabitha Ruff is individual #581 in my old Brother's Keeper Program, She is the 10th child born to Permelia Lee Jameson (Parks) Ruff b July 1826 Old Washington County, MO., d 1906 buried in Lowder Cemetery, Van Buren Co., Ark. and David Crockett Ruff b 27 dec 1819 Tenn. (have the original story of the trip he made to Ark...including the dialogue, he came with another family or two as a young man.) This man is so renown in Searcy County History that there are literal STACKS of documents on him. David C. Ruff died 19 Oct 1869 and is buried in Pleasant Grove cemetery, Searcy Co., Ark. David Crockett Ruff was first married to (may get this one wrong) Mary Goodnight (think). They had several children and she died...he married Permelia Lee Jameson 27 August, 1847. He Married half the citizens of Searcy County, Arkansas as the Justice of Peace and proformed many legal documents as well...no early marriages survive, but from Pensions, bible, family knowledge, David Crockett Rough is listed on 90% of them. We have an unbelievable history of your Ruff's and enough old stories to make 10 books....well, many of them are in books already published of early Arkansas. I go to the North Arkansas Ancestors Fair every June (from Texas) and a year or two ago, one of your Ruff cousins showed up from Oregon and GAVE me a photograph of David Crockett Ruff and Permelia Lee Jameson Ruff!!! And it is OLD!!! I finally found Permelia's grave in my Van Buren County Cemetery's book. In the last year or two on the Yell County list a man posted a note about his ancestor RAN Ruff and I looked thru my Arkansas Death Records Index and found his death date and place, then decided to check my RUFF cousins database and there he was your Arizona's brother! Loranzo "Ran" Segal Ruff, he died up in Craighead County on 30 October, 1914 (the FIRST year death records were kept in Arkansas) a miracle it got in. One of the other brothers, David Goodnight Ruff and his wife are buried with grandma Permelia Lee Jameson (Parks) Ruff. I have the full name and exact birthdate of all the siblings of Arizona Tabitha Ruff Pearce. ( I need to send you to the Jameson cousins who are DIRECT descendants of this great-great aunt and uncle Jameson Ruff of mine.) We also have the Old John Jamesons(b 1784 VA)& Susannah (Cape) Jameson, Records back to Ky. with their marriage record ...don't have it in front of me.(c1806) My Great-Great Grandfather Mastin C. Jameson (who died Feb. 17, 1862) in the civil war, was the brother of Permelia Lee Jameson Ruff. So Guess we are cousins. Somewhat removed. 3. Gary, the last child seems MORE than a mere coincidence to me. My Jameson/Jamison folks of Searcy County, Ark. (one Ebenezer B. Jameson was in Pope County in a census or two and married there as well.) The RUFF Jamison is worth pursueing...My Permelia Lee Jameson married David Crockett RUFF a prominent Justice of the Peace in Searcy County, and they had a large family. What do you think about this RUFF given name and our large Ruff family in Searcy County just above Pope County? My John Jameson came out of VA, Ky into MO about 1820 and on down into Ark by 1837-38. He being the Jameson who brought all his sons and daughters and their spouses into Searcy County,Arkansas, and they all settled up there on the Buffalo River. 3. Floyd, I wish I could help. My family settled in Mosley - Slo Fork area between Dardanelle and Danville. From what my grandfather, William Henry Earls, said, he could find no connection between the families. It always seemed strange, with such an uncommon surname, that two families could settle less than 20 miles apart without being related. 3. Posted on: Yell Co. Ar Queries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Yell?read=288 Surname: Rice ------------------------- I am searching for information on the family of Joseph Rice who moved from Alabama sometime after 1865 and were in AR. in the 1870's. I found a marriage record of Peter J. Rice to Nancy Galloway in Pope Co. but the information said Peter was from Yell Co. He was 21 at the time.(1877) Also from records of Pence Funeral Home in Conway, Faulkner, AR. an O. G. Rice of Dardanelle gave the remarks at the death of P. H. Rice(1895) who was married to Joseph Rice's daughter Mary Rice. We know we have connections with Yell Co. from the above but would love to know if there are any present day Rices who can tell us more about the above people. Thanks for any help!
