Hi What does W of W mean on a headstone? Charlene
Hi I am looking for information about the James A. Brantley family found in the following 1900 Scott County census of Hunt Township #7/7. James A. Brantly Hd Nov 1856 43 M/16 NC NC NC Mattie Wf Aug 1865 34 7/6 AL NC SC Audrie M. D Aug 1385 14 AL NC AL Lydia R. D Sep 1887 12 AL NC AL Joseph A. S May 1891 9 AR NC AL Lula A. Does anyone know who the parents of his wife, Mattie Watson Brantley Owens were? From what I can figure form cemetery, marriage and census records this is all I know. James A. Brantley, born November 15, 1858 in North Carolina. His parents are unknown, but according to the above and the 1920 census record, the both of his parents were born in North Carolina. He married (1) Mattie Watson by 1885, probably in Alabama. Mattie Watson was born August 30, 1866 in Alabama. I do not know who her parents were either. According the 1900 records her father was born in North Carolina and her mother born South Carolina and 1910 census it is the other way around. 1910 Scott County Hunt Twp #76/76 James A. There was also a Ted Brantley how had land in Yell County. Again I have no idea if these men are related to James A. Brantley. James Brantley died April 5, 1911 in Arkansas and is buried Egypt Cemetery in Yell County (Source: Yell County Cemeteries, Egypt Cemetery, Yell County, Arkansas. This cemetery is located near Blue Ball in western Yell County: Brantley, James A. (W of W) 15 Nov 1858- 5 Apr 1911.). After James died, Mattie married (2) John Calvin Owens October 31, 1915 in Scott County Arkansas ( Scott County Marriage Book, D, page 533.) He is listed as J.C. Owens, 46 of Harvey. And she was listed as Mrs Mattie Brantley, 49, of Gravely by I.J. Wilson. He was the son of Dennis Owens and Caroline Phillips. John Calvin Owens was born July 23, 1869 and died 1928 in Star, Oklahoma. Mattie Watson Brantley Owens died September 16, 1950 in Arkansas? She is buried Egypt Cemetery in Yell County (Source: Yell County Cemeteries, Egypt Cemetery, Yell County, Arkansas. Owens, Mattie (Brantley) 30 Aug 1866-16 Sep 1950.). The children of Mattie Watson and James Brantley were: i. Audrie May Brantley, born August 1885 in Alabama and died March 14, 1968; married John Daniel Millard Bef. 1903. I have no marriage record for her. I am assuming that she married in Yell County. ii. Lydia R. Hi I am looking for information about the Williams family below. I believe that this Williams could possibly be a DAVID AND SUSANNAH [HUNT] WILLIAMS, but have no proof of this, other than the Hunt family was closely associated with the families listed below. There is a JAMES T. WILLIAMS buried at Egypt Cemetery, listed as s/o J & M Williams with no dates. Is he a son of Joseph and Mary Williams, or is he a son of Jonathan and Mollie Williams? Where did Jonathan Williams die? When and where did Mollie Williams die? Where did Joseph Newton Williams die? When and where did Maxie Olive Williams die? There is a William Williams listed at Egypt Cemetery, but birth years conflict. Are they the same man? If not, when did the William Williams below die and where. I am looking for burial information on an ancestor who lived in the "Cardon's Bottom" area of Yell County in the late 1870's-early 1880's. A search of cemetery records hasn't yielded any info at this time. I am uncertain of the location of "Cardon's Bottom" & thus don't know which cemeteries are in that area.
