I hope to get some more information on these problems also. 1. I ordered a death certificate for Charlie Edmondson b 1880 d 1966. When I got the death certificate it is not my Charlie! Could someone look again in the Lonoke County cemetery books and check the death date. He is suppose to be buried in Mulberry Cemetery. However, I looked for a headstone in June and did not find him. Suggestions? 2. I found an obit on the Yell County obit page that I would like a copy of. Who do I contact to get it? There did not appear to be a place to request them. 3. I noticed a posting asking about obtaining the information referenced in Cathy Barnes book 1895 Gazette. I, too, would like to know how to obtain this information. If you tried a search engine on the Yell County Marriages 1851-1900 and didn't find your relative don't give up. I have been looking through the file this weekend and I have never seen such "creative spelling". I imagine the file was copied from the original bonds and that they are as difficult to read as census records and also that the people getting the license may not have been very good spellers either (I have trouble spelling my own name and it only has 5 letters!) but there are still some unique spellings in there. Some seem to be phonetic spellings, some are probably nicknames or variations of names such as "Luller" for Lula, one spouse had a given name of Sis, I found the name Burrows spelled three different ways. Those are just a few of the things I have run into. I am "trying" to create an alphabetical listing by grooms surname but am only about 1/3 of the way through. Haven't found much to help my research but it is fun. Keep looking.

There were so many very nice responses to my Yell County Buchanan request that I am just dumbfounded. Arkansas people (and their descendants) are just plain nice. I have now made new contacts with descendants of John A. Buchanan, the Hollands, the Moores and the Jones. In some cases I was unable to help someone but was able to refer them to someone that had written to me, so hopefully, I won't be the only one that benefits from the posting. However, one wonderful thing is that through this list, I have made contact with someone that was able to take one branch of my line back another generation and into another state. In that state, in an online Census, I found another ancestor whose travels I have been trying to trace. He was Mark Allen McClendon. This person referred me to an online census containing our common ancestors - and low and behold, right in the middle - between our ancestors, sat Mark Allen. Now, I have a lead on where to look for his wife. Since they married in a neighboring county, I am going to branch out and see if I can get a lead on her parentage too. You just can't know what information you might turn up with the next e-mail you open, can you? Thanks again to everyone that responded. Hello listmembers -- Thanks to all the helpful information from the last question I now have another one I need help with. (I don't discount any information that I receive even if I already knew it. I don't always think about things from every point of view!) I found on Ancestry.com the civil war pension "application" for John Harper's wife Jemima. However I can't read parts of it because it is so blurry. I would like for someone more knowledgeable than I am to tell me what the parts are so I can fill out form 180 and request his records. Is there some place that has these records that might have a better copy or something that tells me what I am looking at so I can decipher whether I am looking at a date or call numbers. A different question: If anyone has access to a census index for Arkansas for 1880 I would like to know what is listed for James Wesley Carlock. Great day in the morning! I leave town for three days and everthing breaks loose at once. Was delighted to find among all the other accumulated e-mails several McGuire messages. It is too late tonight (and am too exhausted!) to respond to each message, but will try to get everything straightened out & get back to each of you, hopefully tomorrow. Just briefly, in answer to one question regarding Hughes Co., OK. Yes, H.E. & Sarah McGuire and James (Jim) F. & Clara McGuire all remained in Hughes Co. till their deaths and are buried in the city cemetery in Holdenville,OK. I also have copies of the 1900 AR (Yell Co.) census records for H.E. and Sara McGuire. My husband is the grandson of H.E. & Sara. Also, the last account I had, Marilyn Roberts is not on the Internet, but I have her mailing address and an e-mail address of her close friend living also in Dardanelle. Talk to you soon. Rita Floyd
