    3. I feel rotten writing this letter to the list. It is not my nature to say things about people. This will be my only letter on this subject. In early MAY 2000 when I visited there I stopped by Harkey Valley Cemetery and noticed that the gravestone of my grandfather Jim Harkey was loose on it's base . This bothered me because I think stones are missing from that cemetery. I was afraid Grandpa's stone would be gone when I next returned. On the way out of the valley I stopped at this Monument place and talked to a Mr. D. who seemed very nice. I gave him a check for $75 to clean and repair the stone. He promised me quick service and a photo of his work. After numerous phone calls since with no results I am left with the bad feeling that I have been cheated. I think by September he has had ample time to fulfill his promise. This letter is not genealogy but it bothers me to think that there may be others who could likely be cheated by this business. If any of you have replies please send them to me privately. Mary Harkey Russell bird@scrtc.com

J. W. DAWSON age 39 married Laura J. BARRY age 26 on March 26, 1886 in Yell Co. AR. This is recorded in Marriage Book E page 511. Could Laura have been married to a Phillips before or after her marriage to J. W. DAWSON? I understand he died the next year. I would be most grateful for any further information anyone may have on J. W. DAWSON and their son James Wister DAWSON, who married Nellie CAMPBELL.

I accessed seven different data bases with using just my surnames. If you want to print out change your printer to land scape. Brenda

    3. Penny, Desmond Walls Allen the Publisher at Arkansas Research in Conway, AR. Has published several books of the Death Records Index for Arkansas. The first was 1914-1923 and then book 2, 3 and 4 etc. I believe she has completed thru about 1948 up to now. These Index are for the actual death records on file with the State of Arkansas, Dept. of Health. 1914 was the earliest Death records kept in Arkansas. You can go to the Homepage of Arkansas Research, PO Box 303, Conway, AR. 72033, right here online and see her other Arkansas Books as well, most have index posted for your use. The Arkansas Death Record Index is available in Full State and in Regional books, like Western Ark. or Eastern Ark. etc. Go to: www.ArkansasResearch.com Faye Sandy ----- Original Message ----- From: Penny Gardner <pennyg@inreach.com> To: <ARYELL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 26, 2000 8:46 PM Subject: [ARYELL-L] death records > Does Arkansas have a death and birth record list?
