Although I could not help with the unidentified pictures that were just put on line...I really enjoyed seeing them. I would love to see more unidentified pictures of people from Yell co. I think all of us have pictures we would like identified...if we only knew how to go about placing them on line. Any suggestions? Thanks.."JUDY" Nunley, Batchelor, Manes, Austin, Watkins
I have some pictures up on the new Scott County Unidentified Pictures web page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scottuni.htm or you can get it through http://www.rootsweb.com/~arscott/scott.htm listed under Unidentified Photos, Can You Help? Baptism Picture This picture was taken about 1941-42, around Nola. Does anyone know which river this is, and who these people are? What church they were baptized from? I think that this is Alice and Jacob Hale and their son, Deuan Hale. Who is the lady on the far left side? Is the lady sitting in the chair Melvina Jones Morrow, mother of Alice Morrow Hale? This picture was probably taken in Nola. Melvina died January 23, 1931, so this picture was probably taken in the late 1920s or early 1930-1931. Melvina was the wife of William Preston Morrow. S.C. Herrin Store in Gravelly I believe that Ves and Thula Herrin, owner of this store is in this picture but am unable to identify them for sure. I think they may be the two standing under the sign. Who are the others in this picture? Does anyone know when this picture was taken? Gravelly is just over the county line from Scott County, so these people may be from Scott County. Thula Harris Herrin's parents were Robert M. and Laura Bell [Journey] Harris of the Nola area If you think you can help identifying anyone in those pictures, sure would appreciate you taking a look. The web page is growing and looking great. Thank you Delaine!! Charlene Holland
Posted on: Yell Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Yell/394 Surname: McClain, Nelms, Neloms ------------------------- Hi Nancy, In your previous post, you mentioned Nelms. I'm looking for my great grandparents, Alex T. McClain and Annie Neloms/Nelms. The surname was spelled Neloms on my grandmother's death certificate, but family is unsure if the spelling is correct. They have been spotted in the 1900 Yell Co. census. Alex T. was b. Jan 1840 in AR (unknown county) and Annie was b 1870 in AR (unknown county). They were in Sebastian Co., Ft. Smith when my grandmother, Samantha Ethel McClain, was born in Sept. 1897. A family note states that "Samantha Ethel McClain was born to the Choctaw families." Do Alex T. McClain and Annie Neloms/Nelms sound familiar to you? Anyone else out there familiar with this family? Vicki Kea Pasadena, CA
Posted on: Yell Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Yell/389 Surname: Kennington, Ramsey ------------------------- Does anyone have information on William R. Kennington, age 39(possibly 34?), b SC,in Yell County, AR in 1880 census? With him were wife Mary E.J. Kennington, 21, b TX, and dau Willie F.,1, b AR. I believe this may be son of William E. Kennington and Susan A. Poer, in Bowie County, TX 1840's through 1860's although William E. disappeared bef 1860. My ggf Samuel Howard Kennington, b Feb 14,1859, may have been son of William E. and Susan, also, but some oral family history suggests he may have been son of one of their daughters and a man named Tidwell but was raised by his "Uncle Bill" Kennington. I am guessing Uncle Bill was William R. above. Sam married Millie Ramsey abt 1878, dau of David Crockett Ramsey and Elizabeth English. These Ramseys were in neighboring Scott County in 1860 census and Sebastian County in 1870. Sam and Millie and at least two other Ramsey siblings went to Clay County, TX 1878-1879 and later were in neighboring Montague County. Would love to find a marriage record for Sam and Millie in Yell, Scott, or Sebastian Counties. Please help if you can.

Married someone named Mary and had 2 children, James and Jane. Says he enlisted in Confederate army in July 1962 and was AWOL in October 1862. Jane was born in 1864 but in 1866 Mary married Will Cody from Perry County because they had a child. I think Isaac came from Tennessee but don't know anything about his family or what happened to him around 1865 or where he is buried.

Hi list -- I guess I should post a note on the books. For the Arkansas book I received 56 request for information from the book. Each person is approximately 11 pages of information plus approximately 3 pictures. I am work one person per night. I had some computer problems but now have them fixed. On the Oklahoma book I received 100 requests for look-ups. I have gotten several done but without an index it is slow. I have also received some additional information from the Stillwater Musum. I will include all with the requests. I will answer each one even if I did not find the name. Thank you to one person for the reminder. I did not realize that it had been that long. I am hoping to get several done on Friday. I wanted to finish scanning the book before sending the information. I apologize for the delay. yvonne ____________________________ Colorado Springs, Colorado reply to henson@rmi.net web page: http://www.rmi.net/~henson Names I am researching: Main lines: BRENT(S), GRANT, EDMON(D)SON, HENSON, MCARTHUR Co-lateral lines: BRAZIL, CARLOCK, HARPER ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://home.netscape.com/webmail
