I am attempting to find the name of the wife of J. W. Phillips. She was born 1859 and died in 1892. Her marker in the Salem Cemetery says, "Laura Phillips w/o J. W." There is also a Guye Phillips s/o J. W. and L. J. there are no dates for this one. I did not find J. W. listed in the burials of that cemetery. Do you have any knowledge of this couple? I suspect she may have been the widow of J. W. Dawson who died either before or shortly after the birth of their son in 1888. Her name was Laura J. Barry and she was born 1859 in MS. Her mother Adeline Barry is buried in the Salem Cemetery. Thanks, Pat
Good morning Yell County researchers. We have 163 of you on this list today. It is cold here in Kentucky this morning and that reminds me that winter is the busy time for us on most genealogy lists. Seems we spend more time at our computers when it is cold. I am looking forward to getting more messages asking about your Yell County ancestors. Since I mentioned several months ago a problem I was having with getting my Grandpa's tombstone repaired and cleaned by Everlasting Memorials a business in Yell County . I must tell you that I received in the mail a photograph of that stone and it is repaired to perfection. The little Black stone that had been so dirty and hard to read, is now snow white . Hello: I am trying to find what happened to my great-uncle Benjamin Curry Jones who in 1862 was living on a 400 acre farm in Yell County with his wife Mary and three children. Although I have been told that he is not on the 1870 census, I do not know when they left the county.
