I didn't realize that you could get information on these groups, one of my uncles worked for the CCC, but in Colorado -- more might have, but he's the only one I've been told about. If there is a nationwide database, I'd sure like to know about it too. Thanks for bringing that to mind. Hi I am looking for information about two companies of the CCC [Civilian Conservation Corp.] that were in Ar-kansas during the 30s. They were Company #747 in Eagleton, Pope County Arkansas and Company #3786 in Jasper, Newton County Arkansas. My father, Charley Morrow, belonged to both of those companies. As far as I can determine from some old letters he was in Company 747 at Eagleton January 1934 and by October 1935 he was in Company 3786 in Jasper. I am trying to find out exactly when he joined the CCC, when he left the company at Eagleton and went to Jasper and when he was discharged from the CCC. I believe he was dis-charged in early 1937, after he married my mother. Does anyone know where I can find out this information? Is there anyone out there who was in those compa-nies during those years, or might know of someone who was? Thanks so much Charlene L. Holland
Mountain Press has added the index to a large number of books on our web-site with a search engine for those surnames that we have indexed. Check us out to see all of the new books and new indices that have been added. www.mountainpress.com James Douthat sent this to me and I was able to plug in my surnames and found many of them. I can't wait to order some of these books. Happy Hunting!! Debbie (McCallie) Jordan

Could you tell me what funeral home would be closest to Rock creek Cemetery? Thanks Lin of Ca.
Tammy Martin's great-grandfather, Charlie Martin, died in Borger, Hutchinson County, Texas, in 1966. I have e-mailed Tammy with the information about getting his Social Security number application; or a copy of his death certificate from the State of Texas. Either one should show his parents' names. The suggestions each of you gave for getting information were very helpful. Diane
I have had better luck with finding funeral records, than death certificates, when you get that far back. Find out the name of a funeral home in that area. Then call them. They can usually tell you the names of ones that are still in business that were in business then. If you use a 10-10 number, it shouldn't take you more than $.30 a call. If you can't afford to call, though, you can still get the address and write. I have found that people are more apt to help you if you are talking directly to them, though. If you have to write, be sure and enclose a SASE. All the info that is on a death certificate comes from a funeral record. Plus, sometimes you will even get addresses of survivors, and the name of the person who paid for the funeral. Penny Gardner
Phone number of Vital Records is (501) 661-2881. Don't automatically think you will get a death certificate though. Evidently in the early years, ie: until at least 1931 some deaths were not recorded. I have been unable to get records for any of my ancestors from 1914-1931. Did recieve one from 1941. I wonder if it was more likely that death certificates were recorded if a person died in a hospital? Arkansas Dept. Posted on: Yell Co. Ar Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ar/Yell/445 Surname: ROGERS, TONEY, COPPEAK, COPPAK, COPPACK, COPPOCK ------------------------- Tammy, you might have better luck looking for a death certificate. There were no records kept by the State of Arkansas before about 1914 (birth or death). Contact: Arkansas Dept. Of Health Division Of Vital Records 4815 West Markham St., Slot 44 Little Rock, AR 72205-3867 I don't seem to have the telephone number written down. If you are a descendant of Charles Martin, you can get a copy of his death certificate (if one exists). You must request a form to use to request the copy. There is a $4 fee which you send with the completed form. A death certificate can contain the names of the deceased person's parents and their places of birth, as well as the deceased's address at the time of death, and the name and address of the person who supplied the information that is on the certificate. Good luck, Donald

Hello can you give me the proper way to get on the list for and the county Little Rock is in? Thanks Mary
I visited Scott County a couple of weeks ago for a few days. I have to say that I met some of the nicest people you could possibly want to meet. Everyone I met was helpful, gracious and kind. I met new cousins just by talking to people who had heard that I was in Waldron doing research. I was traveling alone, but never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. Unfortunately I was unable to visit Yell County, as I had planned, except for a few hours at Gravelly visiting my cousin and the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church. Next time I will hopefully be able to handle a longer trip. I visited several cemeteries: Parks at Parks, Parks near Nola, Mt. Moriah, Lamb, Hunt, Union Hill and the small cemetery at Boles where James and Lucinda Sessions are buried. Got some great pictures, and had a great time. Thank you Scott County! And thank you Arkansas! Charlene Holland
