Ar Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ar/Yell/10521 Surname: SMITH, WILLIAMS ------------------------- My gg grandfather Alexander Joseph SMITH is buried I believe in Yellville. He was a Methodist miniister and was married to Elizabeth L. Williams. She and seven children survived him. Elizabeth may also be buried in Yellville. According to a family story the monument was made by a family member. Would love to know exact location of burial as well as to hear from any one else who is researching this family. AJ Smith taught school in Meridiun, MS for a period of time. AJ Smith and Elizabeth Williams were married in Mississippi <1857. Elizabeth moved to Hill County TX with her children and at least one brother George Williams and later to Mitchell County, TX. At least one of her brothers may have also moved to Mitchell county.

Hello List, Thanks so much for all the replies I have received concerning the obit for Glenn Strickland. I want to say what a wonderful group the Yell County group is and how much help you have always given me. I consider myself very lucky that I have found out that several of my relatives eventually ended up in Yell County. These include Fink, Tate, Thomas, Chappell, Carpenter, Walker and Brewer (and probably more I haven't discovered yet!) The Yell County area must have seemed like Utopia to our relatives, because they settled in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in Arkansas. I am glad to say that it is an important part of my ancestry. Joy Huddleston

Starting at 8 a.m. PST Friday, February 23, RootsWeb will begin a planned temporary downtime for maintenance of its servers and hosting process. It will limit this downtime as much as possible, and will return with increased performance and reliability for future growth. You may want to hold off posting until they start back up. I know my great great grandfather Solon Ciscero Stephen Durham entered into the Confederate Calvary in Yell Co AR. He was born in Ozark Co MO in 1848. He was one of 12 children born to Howell and Lucy Woodliff Durham m. 1824 in Hall Co GA. We have all the children's names and birthdates and some spouses but none of their children's children. Solon married Mary Catherine Bourland in St Francois Co MO in 1868 where she was born. They had moved to TX by 1869 and had a family of 11. This family is a big research project.
