They were travelling from IL or TN to join up with McGhee/McGee family who were already in AR. James W had married Lucinda Smith (b 1846 in Posey co IN, but moved to IL) in Franklin Co IL June 4, 1863. They had two sons -- William Monroe and James Marion. Lucinda got sick with "the fever" when they arrived in Cotton Plant in Sept 1866, and died in Nov 1866. James W (and sisters?) were in Cotton Plant until at least Feb 1867. Somehow the boys were returned to Lucinda's parents in Franklin Co IL (I believe Mary took them.) The boys were raised by Lucinda's family in IL and IN. One story is that James W died, another story is that he remarried. I am looking for ANY clue as to who James W's parents/family were. The family also has some connection to the Smith/Sumner Co TN area. When William Monroe was a young man, he inherited a part-interest in some land from a William Owens. Does ANYBODY know ANYTHING about McGee/McGhees in or near Cotton Plant in this timeframe? Thank you!
