She was 89 years of age and died one day before her 90th birthday following an extended illness. Services were held June 24 at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in McCrory with Rev. Glenn Hicks, pastor of the McCrory First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Fakes Chapel Cemetery. Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of McCrory and Wynne were in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Holder was born June 23, 1914 in Augusta, a daughter of the late John Benson and Mary Nelson Bates. She was a graduate of Augusta High School and was married December 31, 1932 to Robert Ray "Bob" Holder who preceded her in death in March of 1978. A very lovely and refined lady, "Mrs. Louise" was a part of Fakes Chapel First United Methodist Church. She served as adult Sunday school teacher and was a board member for many years. She was secretary and treasurer for the Fakes Chapel Cemetery until five years ago as well as the head of the McCrory Chapter of the American Cancer Society for several years and a member of Fakes Chapel Extension Homemakers Club. She loved to go any where at anytime. Her family stated she wanted her car kept full of gas and would ride as long as anyone would drive! One trip was said to have been around 400 miles, round trip, in search of one marble for her grandson's collection. Reading, sewing and crocheting were also among the thin! gs she enjoyed. Even though she was in braces, Mrs. Louise stayed more mentally and physically active than most people who had no handicap at all. McCrory has lost a great lady. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Benson and Mary Nelson Bates; husband, Robert Ray Holder; son, John Berry Holder and one great-granddaughter, Sheila Michelle. Survivors are her faithful care giver, friend and daughter-in-law, Annie Sue Roberts Holder Ridgeway and husband Phil of McCrory; one grandson, John Benson Holder and wife Paulette of McCrory; one great-granddaughter, Heather Holder of Pleasanton, California, and one great-great-granddaughter, Mary Katherine Clark. Casket bearers were John Benson Holder, Tony Bull, Billy Joe Bull, Bo Henderson, Walter Rushing and Eddie Rushing. Honorary casket bearers were John Jimerson, Tim Jimerson, Jim Darling, Joe Peebles, James McFarland, John O. Bates, Woody Reynolds, Greg Fetzer and Thomas Graham. The family requests memorials be made to the Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall, Little Rock, AR 72203. ***Note -- Annie Sue (Roberds) Holder Ridgeway's maiden name is not Roberts as listed in Mrs. Holder's obituary. It is (Roberds) as listed here. Gary Telford
