I have tried to get information pertaining to my Roddy family from the Woodruff and Jackson County Courthouse, to no avail. However, I hope there is help out there. I am searching for any and all information pertaining to family members of Thomas Roddy (Dec'd approximately 1859 in Jackson County), who had a son named Edward (Ed) Roddy (Dec'd approximately after 1930). I am trying to locate any wills and inventories for this family listing properties, including slaves. If you cannot help me, would you be able to give me some ideas which I could research? Also, I am trying to find any records which would reflect the names of Mid-wives during the early 1900 through 1922, which is the last year of delivery for my great grandmother, Cora (Corley) Hollis. She was born October 14, 1867 in Arkansas and died on December 5, 1922 in Augusta (Woodruff County), Arkans! as. Are there any records pertaining to mid-wives during this period of time in Woodruff County. Thanking you in advance, Clara M. Roddy-Worsham
Hi Clara, I don't have info on prabate records, but I do rem. seeing a Thomas/Edward but I thought they were with the white RODDY family, the same RODDY family Gary Telford mentioned. I rem. seeing those names I thought on the 1860 and 1850 census which on listed whites, then they started in the south listing blacks on the 1870. There slaves listed on a RODDY probate record. Someone I rem. sent those names to Gary Telford earlier this year I think, yes I did keep the email, will take me some time to locate it. When I do I'll forward the names to you. ----- Original Message ----- From: BeBe923@sbcglobal.net To: ARWOODRU-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 1:45 PM Subject: [ARWOODRU] Loose Probate Records This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
