    3. Searching for additional information on following: Tennessee (PUGH) Davis, daughter of Joseph PUGH and Rhoda (maiden name unknown- possible maiden name from family is WILLIFORD) Tennessee Pugh born 1894 and died 1973. She is buried Woodman of the World Cemetery, Woodruff Co., Arkansas Joseph PUGH family is in Prairie County, AR 1900 census and do not locate Joseph and Rhoda again. Tennie Pugh is living in household of John B. and Nancy WARD 1910 Prairie County, AR Census. Tennessee Pugh married John Isaac DAVIS cir 1913. John Isaac Davis apparently died between 1918-1920 as Tennie DAVIS is listed as a widow with three small children 1920 census of Prairie County, AR. I have not located a marriage record for John I. DAVIS and Tennessee PUGH nor have I been successful finding John I. DAVIS in Census records. Other than finding his widow and children in Prairie County have no leads on him. Tennie and John DAVIS had a daughter, Jewell, who married into the MEREDITH family of Woodruff Co., AR.. Tennie Pugh Davis' second husband was Charles W. DEMAREE. Charles W. DEMAREE was born 9 July 1870 Missouri and died 1947. He is buried unmarked Pumpkin Bend Cemetery, Woodruff Co., AR. He applied for an old age pension in McCrory, Woodruff County, AR cir 1935. Any leads on above people would be appreciated. Sincerely, Margaret Tull <cen57402@centurytel.net>

    3. Dear Margaret, I'm wondering if there is any connection / ties in your Arkansas PUGH family to a PUGH friend / possibly a relative of my great grandmother thru some marriage I haven't pinned down for a brother or sister, etc. I have family lines over many Arkansas counties, and Woodruff was one county where some lines moved as time went by--especially those lines that were living in St. Francis / Monroe County area in 1860s. Here is some background info with names that you might have run across. Among the possessions of my great grandmother, I found a photo of a woman, Nancy PUGH, I know to be an old friend of hers from years ago. I recall hearing the name when I was a child. My great grandmother was Clara Cooper McLAIN, born 1878 in Monroe County (Brinkley) ARK, married in 1898 to William David McLAIN ( Jackson Co., ARK County Judge 1914-1919) and they raised their family in Newport, Jackson, AR. Clara and her sons and her daughter--my grandmother Audrey McLAIN WASHBURN--lived in Newport until a couple years after the Oct. 1921 death of her husband Wm. David McLAIN. After that Clara and sons lived in several small town between Newport and Little Rock, eventually settling down in Little Rock. Another family tie / name that might be relevant is of a step daughter of Clara's (by Wm. David's first wife Cordelia MOSIER)---Elizabeth P. "Lettie" McLAIN HOLDEN, last marriage to John R. HOLDEN in Newport, ARK. Just found one photo----dated by hand Jan. 30, 1955 of a woman in a cemetery and on the back is written: "Nancy PUGH at her husband's grave" . . . Tho my great grandmother Clara McLAIN lived in several places in Arkansas, I'm sure she was living in Little Rock in Jan. 1955 when I was about 12 yrs. old, ---so probably that is where the picture was made. She had a son PAUL McLAIN living in Beaumont, TX then--and we lived in Garland, TX in 1955----she used to travel around from son to son, to her daughter Audrey WASHBURN's (also in Garland in 1955) and to our house, (grandaughter Clotine and Art Williams) staying a few weeks here, a summer there, and so on---until her death in 1979 at nearly 101 years of age. She died in McNeil / Magnolia, ARK while living with her son Alvin C. McLAIN. She is buried in Little Rock near another son, Robert Cline "Pat" McLAIN. Thanks for any comments... and of note, my husband's line has WILLIFORDs that settled in East Texas, Angelina county. I haven't tracked that line. Lottie BROCK married Aubrey "Short" WILLIFORD. Lottie's sister Dana Evelyn BROCK married James Franklin BROOKSHIRE. The BROOKSHIRE line definitely was in Tennessee prior to Texas, and I've seen the WILLIFORD name in GA, TN and ARK. The BROCK line has Choctaw Indian---through Moses BROCK from GA>MS>TX.
