Thanks to all of you who responded to my query re the missing "ARWOODRUF" in the subject line . . .It seems, like me, that several people prefer the identifying subject lilne. Personally, I would like to see it added to remove the mystery as to the sender / message. Also, another lister resonded to me: << The list is also set to return message to the sender, not back to the list, which I think inhibites activity on the list. The subscribers see the question but never sees the answer. This makes sense if the mailing list is busy but if not, it makes a very boring mailing list....I think!>> So--I now understand why I've had absolutely no list response to a reply I made re my MUNNS / MUNS ancestors. My response-- complete with marriages, census info about the family, names and children--went only to the person who responded to me, rather than the list, so others were denied seeing it. I realize that sometimes responses that might have little meaning to some listers can go on and on, but I have found it valuable to be able to follow a conversation or "thread," ---- I have picked up very good clues and good information from the research / comments of other listers . . and in fact, I have signed up several times on lists simply to read and watch the conversations to see if I could learn any valuable information. Thus, I agree with Glenda. Maybe just posting to / or looking at the Rootsweb Message Boards for Woodruff County is better than posting here? I think all messages posted on lists like this are also on those message boards . . .just makes for a little more effort and a slower response time. In fact, I just checked that Rootsweb message board, and none of this morning's messages are posted yet. So this list is faster. Hmmm---in fact, none of the postings I have made since I got on the list June 23 show up on the Woodruff County board--so perhaps the Message Board isn't an alternative. I will have to go to the board and repost my surname info and MUNNS info in order to get an audience that might want to share info. So, List Administrator, (I think it is Gary Telford) what do you think? Sorry to cause you grief. I know you must have a good reason for having set up the site as you did, but if you make a change that proves to be unpopular, it can be reversed later. If we all are overwhelmed with irrevelant conversations, we have only ourselves to blame. Thanks---I am so very happy to have the benefit these Rootsweb lists provide and appreciate your hard work Gary in volunteering to handle this list. Please give me / us your comments re the list settings. Audrey Williams Stanaland Loudon, TN
