She was born in either TN or AR born 10/14/1867 and died 12/5/1922 in Woodruff County, Arkansas and is buried at Harris Chapel Church Cemetery. Her mother's name was Eliza Coroley, although after she later married Coty Pircell (I am not sure of the spelling). Cora was married to Erwin Hollis who was born in Atlanta, Georgia in the early 1850's. She was a midwife and delivered many babies including eight of her grand children by her daughter, Minnie Lee (Hollis) Puckett. I would like to how I could find out about her midwife days and exactly how she became a midwife and did she have to have training. Also, if she had to be trained under a doctor and who the doctors were during those early years she was living in August. Thank you, Clara

He was born during slavery in 1863 in Tennessee, and we were told that he died approximately 1916 (which is, of course, a guess). However, I need to locate any information that pertains to his date of death. Does any one know where I may be able to obtain any records pertaining to him during that time, because the Bureau of Vital Statistics in Little Rock was unable to locate a record for him. Also, his daughter died approximately 1900 or afterwards in Augusta and I would like to find out what she may have died from at an early age. Some family said that they believe she died from a fever. Was there a fever in Arkansas during the early 1900's, that many people may have died? I am also trying desperately to locate any funeral homes during the early 1900's that I may be able to contact to help me as well, but I need the names of! the funeral homes that were in business during that time. Thank you, Clara

There is still a place in Augusta called Porter's Liquor store. Years ago there were two. One on each side of town. They also had a cafe and motel. I did not know the family lived in McCrory. Thought they lived in Augusta. That is my hometown.
