Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/806.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Christine, Thanks for your reply. What I have on Piney Black Helm is he was born January 8, 1849 in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY and died December 18, 1931 in Lonoke, Arkansas and was buried in Concord Cemetery, Lonoke, Lonoke Co., AR. He was married to Julia Elizabeth Maxwell on April 30, 1871. Elizabeth was the daughter of Nelson Maxwell, born about 1823 in Washington, MO and Mary L. (Clark) Maxwell, born about 1827 in Washington, MO. Elizabeth was born September 27, 1849 in Washington, Missouri and died February 21, 1892 in Independence Co., AR and is buried in Alderbrook Cemetery, Greenbrier Twp., Independence Co., AR. They were the parents of eight known children of which I have records. George Helm, born in Kentucky, was the father of Piney Black Helm and the mother is unknown but was born in Kentucky, per 1880 Census, Independence Co., AR. Piney Black was his name, not a nickname, and I don't know why they gave him this name. Hope this helps. Best regards, Gary Telford Family Roots Woodruff County Monitor wgt@centurytel.net

I have stumbled over the two names "Clayton Moses" and "Moseby Clayton" however, our ancestor Maxine Helm Lewis always said her father's name was Clayton Moses Helm. It is recorded in the family bible that way. Another mystery to clarify! I was wondering if you have any info on Piney Black Helm's parents. I recently got his death certificate says he died Dec 18, 1931 in Loanoke and that his father was George Helm, but doesn't say where George was born and also his mother's name is unreadable or looks like it was erased. Also it says his residence at time of death was Hicks Farm, Gray Township, I suppose that is Loanoke. It is a curiosity to me his name, "Piney Black". Have you a clue as to what it stood for? Thanks for any help.....Many blessings, Chris in Ohio
