Major Thomas Edward Stanley was born October 15, 1844 in Town Creek, Lawrence Co., AL. He married, May 1873, J. Laura McCurdy, born April 7, 1854 near Forrest City, St. Francis Co., AR. He died June 16, 1904 and Laura died December 5, 1931. Both died in Augusta, Woodruff Co., AR and are buried in Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery. They were the parents of eight known children, all born at Augusta, AR. Major Thomas E. Stanley was one of two known children that I have record of, as some died before 1889. His brother was Capt. J. M. Stanley, born May 9, 1839 and served in Co. H, 35th CSA, and died April 10, 1884 in Augusta and is buried in Augusta Cemetery. Their parents was Joseph Hopkins Stanley, born May 4 , 1812 in NC and Maria L. (Hill) Stanley, born in Virginia. Joseph H. Stanley died 1852 in Courtland, AL and Maria died 1871. Joseph Hopkins Stanley was the son of Jonathan Stanley who was killed by a robber near Corinth, Mississippi. I hope this helps in your research. I was wondering if you were related to Scott Stanley who owns the Stanley drug stores in Searcy, Pangburn, etc? He and I have become good friends in the last two years. Waiting your reply.
