Is this Presley David Jones, born September 04, 1887 and died June 12, 1954, buried in Pumpkin Bend Cemetery. I would like to know who he married? I know they had at least four children; William E. Jones, Leslie David Jones, Lemuel H. Jones, and Dorthel Jones. If you have any information on the wife of Presley David Jones, birth, death, and burial information, I would appreciate it very much. Janie so good to hear from you. I need lots of help with these Gibson's and Morgangs. Frank Gibson (Manuel Franklin was listed on Ms. Callies's death certivicate.).Acording to information from a coz. list siblings as Newton W., Mark C., Martha and Frank Gibson. I have no proof on this. I do know for sure that my grandfather Morgan had brother's William H. and Thomas all coming to AR from TN. In the 1880 census both the Gibson and Morgans where in TN. Marcus David Morgan and Eva Leona Gibson where married December 3, 1891 in Woodruff CO. AR.My grandfather Morgan had a brother named Clark that was interest in the Clark Morgan buried at Augusta. Frank Gibson died in Woodruff county and was buried in Union Cemetery there is no record that has been found by me of his birth so therefore I do not have that date. Ms. Callie's (Franks wife) madian name was Bratcher. The oldest daughter of Frank married and moved back to TN. She had passed on before his death I beleive. She married! an Eddleman. Keep in touch and we can work this out together. I hope to be in AR before to much longer, my mother lives in McCrory and in in very poor health. Keep in touch Sylvia janieq@ipa.net wrote:This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. You are a descendant of Frank Gipson and I am a descendant of his brother William H. Gipson. They came to AR from TN about 1894 because my father, Minor Gipson, was the only one of his family born in AR in 1895. There was another brother (Thomas) who came with them. He moved on and settled in Lavaca. AR. If I can help answer questions, I'll be glad to do so. Surnames: Revel, Outland, Didlake, Edmonds, Thomas, Brown, Jones Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/928 Message Board Post: The feature article for Family Roots. in the Woodruff County Monitor for Wednesday, December 1, 2004, will be the John W. & Duke Revel Family, North Carolina to Woodruff Co., AR. John W. Revel was the eldest son of eleven children, and from the time he was twelve years of age was a resident of Tennessee. When at the outbreak of the Rebellion he, with all the ardor and enthusiasm of youth joined the Southern cause and enlisted in Company A, Eighteenth Mississippi Cavalry, but was subsequently captured, and taken to Alton, there to Fort Delaware, being confined in prison some twenty months. After being discharged, he came home and in December, 1865, determined to seek his fortune, turned his face father westward and accordingly settled in Woodruff County, Arkansas. This is a great story, full of genealogy information on the Revel family. Hope you all get to read it. Best regards, Gary Telford Family Roots Woodruff County Monitor wgt@centurytel.net

My Great Aunt, Retha Martin, died of some epidemic around 1916, she was about 9 years old. Her parents were Thomas Douglas Martin and Alice Elizabeth Williamson. She is living in White Co., AR on the 1910 census and is listed as Retha. Her parents divorced in 1915 and she is listed on the Decree as Leathie. Her mother remarried to a Milton Young and they were living in Woodruff Co. AR on the 1920 census. Retha is not listed with them. I am trying to find when and where Retha died and is buried and how I could find a DC for her. I would appreciate any help. Thanks. Charlotte McClain Christensen
As I understand it, the new Rivers and Roads journals are now available from the Woodruff County Historical Society. In the past, they have published information on the history and families of Woodruff County. Their publications included the yearly book named Rivers and Roads and Points in Between and two cemetery books, representing a cemetery inventory done in the 1970's. They haven't been real active for a couple of years. However, the WCHS has (2004) reorganized, and the new journals are now available, I am told. Membership fee $13 per year. This entitles each member to one current copy of Rivers and Roads. All additional copies are $13. Send all checks to : Woodruff County Historical Society Box 557 McCrory, AR 72101 Info is on the web sites: http://www.rootsweb.com/~arwoodru/woodhist.html (Woodruff Co Genealogy) http://www.cityofmccrory.com/history_of_mccrory.htm (City of McCrory) Gary,. if you know any more about this please let us know!
