Catherine Burns from her parents Richard or Sarah; or Margaret Crossett from S. C.? I know my grandfather James Robert Crossett had indian blood because I had pictures of him with long dark hair. And my mom Marybelle Crossett said that she was part Chicasaw and part Choctaw. And I found out that my grandmother Mollie Greer was part Cherokee through her mother Jane Bryant. That's why I am trying to find out why my mom kept saying that she was part Chicasaw and part Choctaw?

James Robert Crossett was the son of William Andrew Crossett and Catherine Burns ) previously spelled Byrn. Catherine Burns parents (Richard Burns and Sarah Essex moved to Carroll County TN in around 1831 from Halifax County Virginia. William Andrew Crossett (b 1823) was the son of William K. Crossett and Margaret Crossett who came to TN from SC around 1828. William K. Crossett was born in Ireland, so he must have immigrated after 1790. His father may may have also been a William since there were two William Crossetts on the 1820 SC census - one was listed as Sr.

    2. Gail Banes
    3. My ggggrand parents, Peter and Amanda Mabra lived in Cotton Plant in the late 1870's - early 1880's. Their only son, John was born there in 1880. They later moved to Fordyce, AR in Dallas county. They were both born in Kentucky, but I don't have any information on where. I would appreciate any information on the Mabras. My father, John M. Hayes, remembers that Peter, his ggrandfather, looked like a white man and it was rumored that he may have been. In fact, it was thought that he may have been a Menonite. Any help would be greatly appreciated. gail hayes banes. Try Everything, You Have Time Gail H. Banes g.banes@sbcglobal.net
