Lula Mae Rooks-Long is my great-grandmother. How exciting this is for me. Have you ever heard of Nancy Jane McGuire-Mitchell I believe this to be Mary Rooks mother. I also have to the best of my knowledge the only picture of Nancy dated in 1895. She would be my GGGGrandmother. Does any of this interest you? Pat

I have no information on Bettie Goodrum as to who her parents were, or where she was born and etc. However I do think I may have located a brother, N. E. Goodrum who was married to Lura E. Tubbs. Lura E. (Tubbs) Goodrum was born August 5, 1864 and died November 5, 1890. She is buried in the old historic Beards Cemetery, located about five miles southeast of McCrory, Woodruff Co., AR. He is not buried with her. There is no other Goodrum or Tubbs listed in the cemetery records. Maybe this will help some. At least you have something else to research. I know there were many Goodrum's in Lonoke Co., AR Let me know what you think. Gary Telford wgt@centurytel.net

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/1014.1 Message Board Post: Mary, I searched the Woodruff County Cemetery records and did not find a George, George A., or Howard Wilson listed. The only Brant listed is Mary J. Brant, wife of John B., b. 2-10-1844, d. 4-15-1883 and is buried in Cotton Plant Cemetery, Section 3. I don't believe you will find obits. on anyone that far back. All the old newspapers before 1930 have been destroyed. I have original copies of obits., articles, weddings, and marriages on many of the people who died in Woodruff County from 1930--2004. Also, original copies of marriage license before and after 1930. Best regards, Gary Telford Woodruff County Historian Family Roots Columnist Woodruff County Monitor wgt@centurytel.net

(not sure of the last three letters) in Sept 1890 in Woodruff County. They had one son John W. Martin who was in law enforcement in White County. I have seen documents with Bettie's maiden name spelt several difference ways. I am looking for information on Bettie. When and where did she passed away, who were her parents and or siblings. John W. Martin was my great uncle and a half brother to my grandfather. I am trying to fill in the blanks in my family tree and any help would be greatly appreciated.
