In November of 2002, John Gill led a group of hikers along the same path traversed in 1815 by surveyors Brown and Robbins in creating the baseline for the surveying of the Louisiana Purchase. Gill will tell of their 26-mile trek and share the experiences of the hikers when Tri-County Genealogy meets on Sunday, January 12. Gill, a Little Rock resident, has had an abiding interest in Arkansas history and has written several publications on the subject. Coinciding with plans for the bicentennial celebration of the Louisiana purchase, Gill and several members of the Louisiana Purchase Bicentennial Committee decided to retrace history and walk the same paths their predecessors traveled more than 180 years ago. The program will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the genealogy library in Marvell. All visitors are welcome.

If so - there are these cemeteries south of Augusta: Ashley, New Hope, Harris Chapel. They are listed in the "Northwest quadrant of Woodruff COunty". These are listed in the southwest quadrant: Ashgrove, Big Dixie, Buckeye, Crutcher, Eldridge, Moore, New Community, Peah Orchard, Reed, Reeves, Watson. If Fitzhugh is elsewhere, let me know and I'll look. Gloria

Johnnye, YES. This is my family. The PALMERTREE surname has a million variations, I think - that's one reason it's so hard to find any info if you don't know what spelling to use. Thank you so much.
