Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AW.2ADE/618.1.2.1 Message Board Post: It is my understanding that death records were not maintained in Arkansas until 1914, and even then rural deaths of natural causes where burial was not handled by an undertaker were probably not recorded unless one of the family reported it. I have a Death Record Index for North Central Arkansas, 1914 - 1923, since that seems to cover most of my family. I purchased the indes from Arkansas Research, PO Box 303, Conway AR 72033.

I'm looking for William C Phillips b abt 1853 and died in White County sometime after 1894. That was when he married his 2nd wife Martha Wallace. Martha was 23 years younger so she probably outlived him by many years or remarried. Where could one get a copy of this index. I have a lot of people I would like to look up and would hate to bother you with it. Gene
