AR. which mentions your 'Atkinson's' family and was wondering if you might know if a man named Oscar Atkerson, in the marriage records of Woodruff Co., who married Sally Moore, on Dec. 13, 1899, might have been an Atkinson, and that Atkerson was shown as his name, perhaps based on a southern accent? 1. Descendants of Elbert and Eunice Calvert White
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/633 Message Board Post: I am searching for information on the descendants of Elbert and Eunice Calvert White. The last record we have of Elbert and Eunice – as well as several of their 15 children – is the 1860 Polk Co., census. However by 1870 some of these boys were located in Van Buren Co, and 1880 in Faulkner Co., with their families. But since most of the girls would have married in the 1840s, 50s, and maybe 60s, and many courthouses were burned since that time, we have not been able to locate marriage records, therefore do not have surnames to work with. So, I am sending out a plea to anyone who thinks they might be descended from one of the following to get in touch with me. James White b 1838 Walker Co., AL Adaline White b 1839 Walker Co., AL Nancy White b 1840 Walker Co., AL Elbert W. White b 1841 Blount Co., AL m 26 August 1875 Sarah “Sally” Newman Unicy (Eunice?) White b 1843 McNairy Co., TN Talishy/Faith White b 1845 McNairy Co., TN Eliza Jane White b 1849 McNairy Co., TN Thompson White b1853 McNairy Co., TN Samuel White b 1855 Polk Co., AR I do have quite a bit of information on the rest of the children and will be glad to swap information or compare notes.

Surnames: Moore Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/632 Message Board Post: I am searching for any descendants of the family of Martin Luther Moore, born in c1840 in TN., whose household appeared on the 1880 Woodruff Co. AR., census. His wife, "Mary" was my gg.grandmother, ("Martha Ann Dawes") older sister, & born as Mary Elizabeth Dawes, the oldest daughter of William Dawes and Mariah Todd. Martin L. Moore & Mary were in Madison Co. TN., in 1870, and moved from there to Woodruff Co. AR., apparently by 1872 when son Frank, was born. Martin L. Moore was the son of Stephen Moore and "Mary Sarah Duffey". The children in Martin L. Moore's household in 1880, along with his wife Mary, were: Martha 14 (she was 6 in 1870) Matt 12 - (a daughter, likely named Mary and called Mattie or "Matt". Sally 10 - (Was she the Sally Moore who married Wm. Carney in 1893? Frank - 8 - (1st child born in AR.) Egbert 6 - (Also born in AR. Another son, shown only as "J." Moore was in the home in 1870, at the age of 1. He was likely named James, after a brother and an uncle of Mary's. He has apparently died by 1880 when he would have appeared at the age of about 11. I have much to share about both Mary and Martin's ancestry and wish for any descendants to contact me at: christip@southshore.com Thank-you, Christi

    3. FYI - I was asked about what out-of-state people can do re the cemetery preservation - here's the reply, which sounds good to me! And, the committee that's involved is the City County and Local Affairs for the House of Representatives. There are two links that might be helpful: AccessArkansas.org, at http://www.accessarkansas.org/house/reps.php and the Arkansas Legislature site at http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/ You can find your county and send the representative a message, and you can also send someone on the committee a message. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bronte, Hamilton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AW.2ADE/629.1 Message Board Post: Hi Kenny - You should try the local Church of Latter Day Saints library to get info on the Cotton Plant newspapers, which are on microfiche. What they don't have, they will be glad to order, and there may be a very small fee. THey're great for getting that sort of thing. In Little Rock, the History Commission downtown has the microfiche, and they're available in Woodruff County at those libraries. Other libraries in your area may have them, but it's on an individual basis and you'd have to call and check. Hope this helps - Gloria

    1. Benton Co. Cemetery Preservation Group sponsoring Cemetery Bill
    2. Gloria B. Lane
    3. I wanted to forward this on to the list, because it has to do with a bill (see below) for preserving the cemeteries. So many cemeteries are already in such bad shape, and many are just lost to time and deterioration. I haven't read this thoroughly yet, plan to and hope you'll do the same. Maybe we can improve the situation.
