    1. Newtons, Sullivans, Kellums and Normans in White County
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Newton, Norman, Sullivan, Kellum Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wV.2ADI/1522 Message Board Post: I have a number of ancestors from White County, AR, including Norman Family and Sullivan Family. My gggrandfather, William N. Norman (1849-1819; son of Thomas and Catherine Norman; grandson of Francis Marion Norman) married Nancy Naomi Newton (ca. 1857-1928). William N. Norman was a farmer and delivered mail in White county. Nancy was reportedly part Native American. She had a sister with the initials M. J. Nancy Naomi Newton's (wife of William N. Norman) parents were George W. and Mary T. Newton. According to her death certificate, she and her parents were born in Tennessee. It's difficult to read, but it looks like Mary T.'s maiden name was Wilson. William and Nancy Norman had several children including Al, Amanda, Cora, Ed, George, James, and LouElla (my ggrandmother). Their daughter, LouElla Norman (1874-1911) was married to a Jack Kellum (ca. 1865-1901) who died in a tornado after they had 2 children: Willy and Nancy Edna (my grandmother). It has been suggested that my Kellum's appear to be descendants of Smith Kellum and Polly Parker Kellum, but I cannot confirm this. Smith Kellum was born in Accomack CO. VA and Married Polly Parker there. Smith Migrated to Wake County North Carolina and left there for Davidson, CO, TN approx. 1820. One of the kid's known as Smith Kellum also migrated from TN to Searcy, AR. I'm hoping this is my Kellum. After Jack Kellum's death, LouElla (nee Norman) married Joseph Mack Sullivan (1867-1916), a widower who was born in Mississippi. His children from his first marriage included George, Jess,Ira, Nora, Lena, Mattie and Jack. Jospeh and LouElla had three more daughters, Alice Irene, Lottie Lucille and Florence Belle. LouElla died after giving birth to Florence. When Joseph died in 1916, the Sullivan/Kellum family moved to Amarillo, Texas. I would greatly appreciate any help learning more, particularly about the Kellums and the Newtons, about whom I know very little. Thanks very much. Pat
