the caretaker was absolutely no help to me.....and I wouldn't go after April or May. I almost died in that heat and humidity!!!!! ----- Original Message ----- From: Susan Jones To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2002 5:38 PM Subject: Re: [ARWHITE] Searcy Funeral Hope Assitance Hi Ann, I have called the Funeral Home from Florida. They found the information and all they had was a little obit, which I already have from the funeral home in Miami which took care of the initial care and transportation to Searcy. When I talked to the lady at Roller Daniel Funeral Home, she said that they did not keep records of the lots, diagrams, lot numbers, etc. That was done by the persons who cared for the cemetery. Now, I understand, the city of Searcy does the mowing but does not keep records of the lots. I guess I will have to wait until spring and try and track them down. My husband cannot walk and I cannot drive so it should make for a very interesting outing when we can get up there. Thanks for responding. Take care and good luck on all your research. They do not keep plots or maps of the cemetery as I had the same problem locating my grandmother who was buried (at the time) recently through them. You have to search it out yourself, which took me 4 days in the hot July sun, and I never found it. Finally my brother got me to her grave site, only to find that my grandfather's date of birth on the headstone was 8 years off! If you go to the funeral home, there is a nice young man there who let me look through the burial books, but says the info cannot be published on the web. This would make it too easy for researchers, I guess. there is no one at the funeral home that will look something up because it is not indexed in any way and you have to pick a year and go through each and every page to find your relatives. I think the system should be reformatted, but that is just my opinion, and you know, everybody has one. > ann hart ==== ARWHITE Mailing List ==== If you wish to subscribe to or unsubscribe from the White Co., AR list, use [email protected] or [email protected] if you are on the Digest list. Hi Ann, That is what I have heard about the caretaker. As far as heat and humidity, when you have lived in Florida and the country of Panama, you get very used to that.
