Hi, I am behind in my email but saw the post on the Fairground Cem and wondered if anyone had more info on it? I am wondering if anyone knows how long it was used and where the burial info would be now. Does anyone know exactly where it is at the fairgrounds? I live across from the fairgrounds and never knew it was there. I would like to take my 12 yr daughter over there since now she is very spooked that there are dead people buried across the street:) I think taking flowers over there and showing it to her will ease her fears plus let her learn a little bit about history. Also curious is there a website that has info on the old buildings at the fairgrounds? Does anyone know why they took one of them down a couple of weeks ago? Thanks! Hi Theresa The cemetery is on the south side (I think) of the fairgrounds - beside the highway department. There are only two stones standing. I am currently working on obtaining info about this cemetery. It was used for many years. You can look at www.rootsweb.com/~arwhite under cemeteries and find a picture, listing and description that a great volunteer put together. I'll let the list know when I find more info. In a separate matter, the Pioneer Village at the fairgrounds is being relocated. The fair needed the space for expansion and the village needs to be down by August. Don't worry though, it will be put back together again at a nice spot in Searcy around the same time. It will have more space and the area will be nicer.
