    3. I am trying to hunt down my paternal grandmother's family. I wasn't raised by my father and my grandmother passed in 1980 (I was born in 1961)and when quizzed I discovered my grandmother left very little clues and they are all informationally challenged. What little information I have is from my paternal grandmother's application for social security benefits, her death certificate, the 1910 soundex index for white county which has an ed mistake in it, and family rumor. Not to mention her last name was Smith--oh joy and all of the troubles for researching that brings up. My grandmother was Francis Louise/Lousia (depending on what document you are looking at) Smith born in 1905 in Arkansas. She was rumored to have to use the 1910 census taken in June 1910 along with her family Bible to be able to get her social security since her birth predates birth certificates in Arkansas. On her social security application, she lists in her own handwriting her father as Amaziah Smyth and her mother as Jeannie Belle Wells and says she didn't know where in Arksans she was born. She spells her maiden name as Smith even though she spelled her father's name as Smyth. She is rumored to have to lived in the Arkansas back woods and worked as a telephone operator when she got older. She married Samuel Andrew Cline in the 1920's and had four children: Patricia, Buddy (H.H.), Barbara and James E. She died in 1980 in Florida. I knew she had a sister and a brother but not much more. Her death certificate states her mother's name was Jeannie Belle (not Jeannie Belle Wells) and her place of birth as Blytheville. I searched the soundex and the only Amaziah Smith I came up with was in White County in ED district 167 and when I cross referenced to the census for that year there was no ED district 167 for White County. However, the soundex lists Amaziah Smith age 43 born in Illinois head of household, Guannie B. age 28 born in Tennessee wife, Willis age 9 son born in Arkansas, Ova B. age 6 daughter born in Arkansas, Francis age 4 born in Arkansas daughter, Lillian born in Arkansas. I think this is my paternal grandmother's family. No my family has absolutely nothing for me to get a lead on. No, I found nothing in Blytheville. This is closest match. Any leads on any of the names would be greatly appreciated. I didn't find them yet in 1920 or in 1900 so I don't know. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx
