I am especially looking for the FIRST family of Jeff Burkett who had at least 2 sons both born circa 1880's, and possibly other children. I do not know any of their names or his first wife's name. He had a temper, shot a man (killed him) he was jealous of, left town and changed his name. Some of his sons finally caught up with him years later in Houston, Texas where he was living with his second wife and 8 more children. After his second wife threw him out and ended the marriage, he married yet a third time and had two daughters by that wife. He went by Smith for a number of years before his sons caught up with him, and possibly Jones for a time. He claimed his mother was Cherokee. Any information would be a huge help. Thank you.
