Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wV.2ADI/1498.1.1 Message Board Post: Charlotte, Thank you so much for the information, I was at the White County courthouse and did not find that marriage, i am glad you did. George Pruitt and Ida Mae Holden Had four girls and two boys, but only a girl(Lester) and a boy(Clifford) survive to adulthood and live a long life. Lester Pruitt married Edgar Boyd, he had died but she is still living and will be 90 in October. Clifford Pruitt married Ida(Maiden unknown) and they had 6 girls and 3 boys. All have passed away except one girl and one boy. Now Jerry Pruitt could be the grandson of Clifford, since Clifford married in 1926 and Jerry is 55 or 60, I would think he would have to be a grandson if he is in this family line. All of this information I got from our Holden reunion in Searcy from a Darrell Boyd who is the grandson of Lester Boyd, Lester married in 1928. I do not know Darrell Boyd's address or phone number, but I think i can get that question to him through someone else by e-mail. I wish i could tell you i knew who Jerry Boyd is, but i will check for you. Sincerely, Mark Jackson

My best advice is to contact the White County Historical Society. To do that through e-mail, I would write Eddie Best who is with the White County Historical at ebest@ipa.net He takes a very active part and should be able to suggest someone who is in the know on that subject. It is possible that there is still a very old church record from way back then that tells such. Have you thought of contacting the church to ask? I believe I attended a funeral there at least 30 years ago. I do know I have heard of and visited a cemetery named Mt. Pisgah in that area. Good luck!!!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wV.2ADI/227.343.3.1 Message Board Post: I am trying to find ANY information regarding the Burkett family of White Co, Arkansas. I am especially looking for the FIRST family of Jeff Burkett who had at least 2 sons both born circa 1880's, and possibly other children. I do not know any of their names or his first wife's name. He had a temper, shot a man (killed him) he was jealous of, left town and changed his name. Some of his sons finally caught up with him years later in Houston, Texas where he was living with his second wife and 8 more children. After his second wife threw him out and ended the marriage, he married yet a third time and had two daughters by that wife. He went by Smith for a number of years before his sons caught up with him, and possibly Jones for a time. He claimed his mother was Cherokee. Any information would be a huge help. Thank you.
