My best advice is to get a map and check out the location of those places. If you do not, you will get lost for sure. Many parts of that area you are speaking of has not changed much since your own mother was born. You will find that a cemetery in that area will be peaceful and the roads rolling and winding. I would suggest you bring a good camera, etc with you to record your trip as your own relatives and friends will be amazed. If you would write me I will give you my mother-in-law's phone number again, and you can give her a call. As I have told you previously, she was a step-sister to Cap Poe who married her husband's neice later on. So there were members of the Poe family who had my in-laws for an aunt and uncle. Her mind is still good and she either lived or has been to or knew every place you are speaking of. I truly believe the name Cap Poe came about because there was a Captain Poe from the area in the Civil War time, but I may be wrong. My mother-in-law can tell you what his real name was. His descendents live still in the same area that their parents and grandparents lived for the last 100 years.

They had 10 children James Henry Martin (b. 1823, d.1877); William Martin (b.1825); Joseph Martin (b.1827); Sarah Martin (b.1832); Francis Martin (b.1835); Elizabeth Martin (b.1837); Nancy Martin (b.1839); Tom Martin (b.1841); Sally Martin (b.1843); Mary Martin (b.1847). Prior to living in White County, Arkansas, where she moved after the death of Lewis in 1866, She lived in DeSoto, Mississippi. I hope this can be of help. If you happen to have any information on the parents of Elizabeth or Martin I would appreciate it as I have been unable to find any. Thank you.
Looking for Alreds and Gibsons who lived in the Denmark area. Many are buried in New Bethelem Cemetery. Is there any one researching these families. John Alred married Lydia Gibson. I need to know if Green Dee Robbins married Olivia Shinpoech in White County in either late 1856 or early 1857. Their first child was born in December 1857. There are various spelling for Olivia's name. The 1860 Federal Census for Marshall Township lists what appears to be her mother and father as "John [age 67] and Mary [age 67] and spells the name as Shipoch." I have also seen it spelled as Shinpouch and Shinpoch. Olivia was also known as Livy. Green Dee could be listed as simply "D" as the 1860 census shows him living next to the Shipoch family. There seems to be at least a transcription error for the Robbins family. The children appear correctly, but D's wife is listed as E. A., aged 23. Family records indicate that she was Olivia Shinpoech Any help will be appreciated. Milton D. May mdm162rock@aol.com
