I tend to lean towards John Hess & Mary?? out of Blount Co, TN. Also the reason most people say that Samuel & Solomon was born in Cario, IL is because of a Goodspeed book. I think they probably came from TN as most of the other families in the area area also associated with the Hess out of TN & also with Solomon & Samuel. Solomon - son of Samuel supposedly died around 1865. I need to find Solomon & Sarah in the 1850 & 1860 census but so far have not been able to. Sarah married Solomon's brother Riley Hess sometime after 1863. She died around 1867 in Jackson Co. This is what I have been told by numerous sources but none have proof. In order for me to satisfy myself - I need to find them with their family.

Thank You, Theresa ( see the post below ) MOUNT OLIVE CEMETERY Floyd, White County, Arkansas This cemetery is located in Section 32, Township 7 North, Range 8 West. The Floyd Homemaker’s Extension Club listed it in 1968. This record was updated by Leroy Blair of the White County Historical Society after he and his wife Ellen visited the cemetery April 4, 2001. Following are his directions: “To reach this cemetery from Floyd, take Highway 305 north about 1 ½ miles to Peanut Ridge Road. Turn right on Peanut Ridge Road and go about three miles to Mount Olive Road. Turn right on Mount Olive and go about a half-mile to Mount Olive Church Road and turn right. The cemetery is at the end of the road, about a quarter-mile from the old church, which does not appear to be used any more. The cemetery is clean.” Blair found 153 graves that were not listed in 1968. He also found 66 graves marked with rocks with no information on them, 16 funeral home markers that were illegible, and eight depressions that he said appeared to be unmarked graves. His name was Thomas Douglas Martin and her name was Alice Elizabeth Williamson. They are listed on the 1910 census living in White Co., Russell Twp. as Tom D. Martin and wife Alice. They had two daughter's together. There are other son's listed from his previous marriages. The daughter's were Retha/Leathie and Ruby. Thomas and Alice divorced in 1915. She remarried to a Milton Young and is living in Woodruff Co., AR on the 1920 census. Sometime between 1915 and 1920, their older daughter, Retha/Leathie, died. Thomas is living with his son, Doug Martin, on the 1920 census in White Co. AR. Their daughter, Ruby, is my grandmother. Thomas died in 1921 in White Co. Alice died in 1941 in Dunklin CO., MO.
