If you would like the name of a research person, I can suggest someone. The lady is quite good. Have you thought about contacting the White County Historical Society? There is a e-mail for Eddie Best on the front of this site and he is very big with them. Also, go to Google and type in Arkansas Federal Land Records. Type in the man's surname. It is a very good possibilty that his name or a relative's will pop up. This may prove to be helpful. I also know an elderly lady who may have just accidently known them way back when, if you want to chance a phone call to her. She lived in White County at that time at what was called Four Mile Hill having been born in 1914. Her father-in-law visited all the time at Georgetown as he had kin from Georgia who lived there. Good luck!!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wV.2ADI/1551.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Hello. I would suggest you write Sherryl Miller at the Lonoke County Museum, PO Box 873, Lonoke, Arkansas 72086. Or if you wish, you may phone her at her home at 501-676-2496. The lady will want a donation to the museum building fund for her efforts, We are living in the county directly south of White. Mrs Miller will go to the History Commission in Little Rock and search. Write out everything you have posted, please, as she wants to see it in print even if she talks to you in person. Sherryl keeps a running record on who is searching for what so if she does not find what she hopes to find, she might later on. Sherryl has written at least four books about this area and is a whiz at the old records. She has been quite helpful to me in the past as well as many others. Good luck!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wV.2ADI/1567.1 Message Board Post: Hello. I did check the land records on the name Stacy. It appears that he recorded land in what became White County in 1837 and 1838. Go to Google and type in Arkansas Land Records to get to that site. Then you will get the site address from there. As Arkansas became a state in 1836, a lot of folks came to claim land during that time. My great great great grandfather Fielding Price came with his family in 1836. To get to where they were headed, they floated the White River in. More than likely this guy did the same. Or he could have come on the White River to DeValls Bluff and made his way in. If I am not mistaken, you may wish to check and see when White County was formed. Depending on where he was actually at the time makes a difference on which county he may have been recorded in. You might want to contact the White County Historical Society. There is an e-mail on the front of this site for Eddie Best. He can probably help you some. If you need a research person, let me know and I will give you a lady's name. Good luck! Linda

If the lady died in 1918, I would almost believe she died in the flu epedemic of that time. (My grandfather said all he did was haul ice to pack the sick in and dig graves during that time of 1918.) There is a death index at your local library in the genealogy room if you live in Arkansas which will be covering 1914-1948. That could nail down some exact dates of death. It is my understanding that if you order a death certificate this information is needed. If you need a research person, I can suggest someone. Have you contacted the White County Historical Society to see if they had any info on the people. Check the beginning of this site for Eddie Best's e-mail and write him as he is very well connected in that group. Good luck!

I realize that you have listed a date of death, but you may wish to confirm it. That comes from the voice of experience as I found out my own relative lived about five years longer than I thought. To do that, may I suggest you check the death index which should be found at your local library in the genealogy section if you are in Arkansas. It covers 1914-1948 providing it was actually reported to the correct authorities. Then you can order the death certificate which should have some information on it. If you need a real research lady to look for you, get back in touch with me and I will give you her name. She will want a donation to the museum building fund in Lonoke County. Everything is on the up and up and she has helped me lots. Good luck!
