Other children, including my mother Alma Olivia Armstrong (b 1892) were born in Armstrong Springs, White Co, AR. Their last child, Ida Ruth, was born in Armstrong Springs in 1896. We can find no further mention of either Albert or Bellzoriah after 1896. We do have considerable info on the siblings of Albert and Bellzoriah, and their families. But not on Albert or Bellzoriah. 3. Hello, I have been watching you struggle with your problem. Have you checked rootsweb.com/~arwhite? There is a lot of info on most of the cemeteries in White Co. I live in Little Rock and was born in Searcy. In fact I was there today going through some files at the court house and checking a couple of cemeteries. The rootsweb site may be of some help. 3. Hi Shelly, That is the one thing I did not ask the funeral home. I had so many other things on my mind when I called plus I was calling long distance and I wanted to be sure I got all my other important questions in there. You keep coming up with good questions. I guess I am going to have to call the funeral home again and see if they know. All they would tell me is that the records were so old that all they had was the name of the cemetery. They didn't have anything else in their files. They may have assumed that I knew about the headstone, etc. and didn't even mention it. All they said is that the sextant of the cemetery would have the information as to the lot #, who all is buried there and any other information. 3. Wouldn't it be nice if every one were so considerate. If it did break, etc, they wouldn't know who to call because they wouldn't of known which funeral home put it there and so on. If they knew the family, if the family were local, than that's different. It's really just up to the family to check on these things around here. The caretaker just gets paid to mow or make sure someone mows and to make sure folks are buried in the correct spots, as far as I know. Like everything, some are more organized than others. Also, sometimes if someone is buried beside a small tree, the tree grows and crumbles the stone. That's also a possibility. Did the funeral home say if a tombstone was purchased through them? If one wasn't there is a good chance there was never one made. Hi Shelly, Thanks so much. It is hard to think of 1909 and 1959 as being that old. I guess I am used to New England cemeteries where stones are from the 1600s and 1700s. Even my gr. grandfather, on my father side, which was made of slate and broken was fixed by me last year and you could not even tell that it had been broken. I would think that if a stone had fallen or broken, that they would have tried to contact family by writing to last know address. That would have gone right to my house as my we own my father-in-law's home now. How strange. Again, both my husband and I appreciate any effort on your part, even if you do not find anything. I guess the sextant of the cemetery has no information as is the case in most cemeteries. 1. [ARWHITE] Looking for tombstones in Oak Grove...
    2. Kevin & Shelly Keech
    3. I have printed and I put this in my glovebox so I will have it handy when in Searcy sometime. I have to warn you that the surveyor who listed this cemetery is the best and most determined. If he didn't find it...it is unlikely that I will. I will look and I'll have my dad help me. This cemetery is so so so large and old it is very possible that a headstone that was once there is no longer, if one was ever placed, even if they could afford it. I just don't know. The cemeteries around here are full of unmarked old graves. We even have one old cemetery, unkempt and in the very rural country, that was destroyed by bush hogging (this is an extreme, but just to let you know what happens over time). I will take my camera and I'll let you know when I look. I wish you the best in your hunt. 3. Hi Wendy, I am sure about the cemetery and that there should be headstones. I talked with the funeral home in Searcy and he gave me the name of the cemetery. I also have a funeral announcement that a family usually mails out and it says Oak Grove Cemetery in Searcy. I do not think my Father-in-law would put his father in an unmarked grave anymore than his mother having an unmarked grave. They could well afford the cost back then. I do not know what is going on unless someone did not do their jobs since my father-in-law was in Miami, FL and not overseeing the work done. 3. Hi List, I want to thank everyone who responded to my request for Funeral Home Help. I called them today and got the tiny bit of info they had. All they had was the name of the cemetery. When I checked the cemetery list on line, he and his wife, Emma were not listed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. I know that my father had a headstone put there for him. I don't know what I am going to do now as no one seems to have a proper listing of the lots in that cemetery. The funeral home did not even have a lot number. They told me it was taken care of by the cemetery back then but they had a fire and all their records were lost. I am looking for the lots and headstones of Emma JONES, died in Marianna, Lee County in 1909 and transferred to Oak Grove Cemetery in Searcy and William M. JONES, Emma's husband, who died and Miami, FL. in May 1959 and transferred to Daniels Funeral Home (as it was known then) for burial in Oak Grove. Does anyone have any other suggestions? On line listings have not shown them. Where do I go next? I am not familiar with Arkansas and the customs of the state and counties. I am used to working with TN, KY, NC, New England and Canada. What I am looking for is: The name of the cemetery where buried Lot # The layout of the lot Was it a family plot under the name J. W. Jones (John W. Jones) or his own lot. Were there others who were buried in this lot. Was there a headstone or, if in the J. W. Jones lot, his info added to the monument that was already there. I am also looking for his first wife's burial and I understand that she was buried with J. W. Jones family lot. Her name was Emma (Masterson) Jones. If you can help with this info, please let me know. If you can help and the home charges you a fee, please let me know that, too. Thanks for all your help. We have been searching for some time for William and Emma and have just gotten our first leads.
