I found a Mary Murrey, age 17, married Charles Hendrix, age 22 on April 14, 1897 by Elder B. H. Simpkins. County Clerk was J. W. Ford. W. M. Murrey signed as security for marriage bond. They bought the license on April 13, 1897, married on April 14, 1897, and recorded the marriage on April 20, 1897. Charles made a mark (X) for his name. License recorded in book L page 152. I checked for the children's names you listed. The only Sarah Hendrix I found was way back in the early 1800's and couldn't find a Ruby Hendrix. The closest I could come to Nellie Hendrix was Nettie Hendrix, age 22, married Jesse Bevills, age 21, on December 21, 1897. A. Williams married them, don't know his title. The County Clerk was H. A, Smith. Both Nettie and Jesse were from Center Hill, White County, AR . Sincerely, Ludean >Message Board Post: > >On April 13, 1897 Mary M. S. Benton. I don't know if it is John Steven Benton as only initials were used. And the date on the license says that he is 23 and she is 18. This is not in my family, so I only know what it says. You can get in touch with the White County Clerk's office and they can transcribe the license for you. I had a lady in the office helping me as one Coffee listing said it was on a page that it wasn't, so she probably would remember and she knows my name, as I spend a lot of afternoons there. I sure don't want to get it down wrong, that is why I went back to check on it. I am sorry if there is a mix up. Have a good day. I do have a photograph of her, let's just say, she probably had a hard life, lol. Mary Jane Owens, b. November 28, 1847; d. July 31, 1894 in White County, Arkasas (Floyd); she is buried in the Floyd Cemetery there. Mary wed Zachariah WATSON on April 13, 1866 in White County. Together they had 11 children. (He waited 7 months and remarried, had 4 more, I don't think I would wait long either with so many children to raise) Zachariah was a cotton farmer. Some census records for her show she is from Mississippi, some say Arkansas. The census records show that her parents were from Alabama.

I hope it helps. William N. Norman, age 23, married N. N. Newton, age 15, December 15, 1872 and were married by R. D.? Coffey. Married at bride's parents residence. This is the odd thing. Thomas J. Norman, age 18, married M. J. Newton, age 18 on, December 15, 1872 by ? Coffey and is registered at the same time, same page, etc. I couldn't find a Thomas J. Norman and that is the reason why. I copied the info and turned it into the lady who works there and she is going to list Thomas J. Norman and M. J. Newton for future reference. These licenses are located in Book B Page 461. You will notice that at first, this county used letters to denote a book, then they changed over to numbers. That is why some are letters and some numbers. Also, the towns mentioned are in the same general location west of Searcy. Hope this helped you or someone else looking for these persons.
