    1. Re: [ARWHITE] HUGHES, HICKS, MARSH ect.
    2. Dear Pierre: I agree that census records are often wrong. When I look at the 1820 census of Warren Co. for Hardin Hugh there is only 1 male with them under 10. Also, why does the Goodspeed biography not mention her? I know she seems to be with the Hughs families in Warren and White. I would love to have a copy of her descendants. Are you related to Coy Benton? I have been able to find information on all the children of Hardin except Marion, Harding, Louisa and Mary. Have you had any luck with these four? Some descendants think Louisa married a James Brown but the dates don't work out. Have you seen anything anywhere that made you know Hardin as Hardin T. Hughs? I have never seen that. Currently I am trying to figure out how to find the Thomas Hughs that was in the 1790 Surry Co. census. There is also a John Hughes but I have seen his will. Thomas is not in the next census, so I am thinking he has moved but I haven't got into much searching yet. Hardin's family must have gone into Tennessee for him to enlist there. Thanks for writing. 3. HI MARLA; My Hardin T Hughes appears to be the same as your Hardin Hughes,,b/1791/1795 They have the same wife and were from McMinnville,Tennessee. All my info is from descendants in White County ----many years ago-----and I have no way to verify any of the data. Rachel was my GGGrandmother; My records indicate that Hardin T Hughes from McMinnville had the following children: Rachel b/1814 Thomas H. b/1816 Hardin b/1820 Louisa b/1822 Catherine b1826 Andrew Jackson b11 jul 1828 Mary Polly b1830 Elizabeth b1832 All in McMinnville I am somewhat leery of census records as I have several ancestors who fudged their age on the census records. I have hundreds of descendants of Rachel and her husband William Burkett. I can e-mail her descencancy to you if you wish.......Pierre ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 07, 2002 12:18 AM Subject: Re: [ARWHITE] HUGHES, HICKS, MARSH ect. > Dear Pierre: > My ancestor Hardin Hughs was born 1795 in Surry Co. Do you think James W. Bell who married Kate Sheldon in 1887 or James Bell who married Laura Hackney in 1876 would be your ralations? If so, I will get the info for you. Also, are these any licenses you might be interested in? Mary Bell married Francis Van Stain in 1880. Mary E. Bell married Thomas F. Singleton in 1892. Mary J. Bell married Levi Thacker in 1873. Joseph T. Bell age 21 married Elmira Chilcote age 17 on November 24, 1897. J. L. Middleton, J. P. performed the ceremony. The clerk was J. A. Ford. A note attached to this license goes like this: Joseph Chilcote of Jackson County, AR says that the father and mother of Elmira Chilcote are both dead and that she has not now nor ever had a legal guardian since the death of her parents. I think R. T. Bell signed as Security. Some of the writing is hard to make out from those old licenses. I hope this helps you or maybe someone reading this.
