    3. All of these surnames are important in the earliest White County history. Information about their activities is given in the White County Court Record 1836-1847. These families lived in the southwestern part of the county. Some information is available on the White County Historical Society's web site www.rootsweb.com/~arwhite ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 18, 2002 2:03 PM Subject: [ARWHITE] Re: STACY, ROYAL > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Royal, Bybee, Thompson, Watson, Johnson, O'Bryant > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/wV.2ADI/132.181 > > Message Board Post: > > I am a descendant of Nancy Royal who married Sherrod Bybee, also a descendant of John Royal. > > I think they always lived near one another and that Byram Stacy was the executor of Sherrod's will. 3. The West Point Cemetery has graves dating back to the 1850's (the town was founded in 1850). It is listed on the White County Historical Society's web site www.rootsweb.com/~arwhite . Just scroll down to cemeteries and then scroll down to West Point. The Crow cemetery about 3 miles to the northwest also is quite old. There are Phillips buried at Goodwin Cemetery about 6 miles to the southwest. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 18, 2002 12:12 PM Subject: [ARWHITE] West Point not West Plains > In a message dated 3/18/2002 9:00:37 AM Central Standard Time, > [email protected] writes: > > I meant west point! 3. The present Cumberland Presbyterian Church sanctuary was built in 1903 with the educational building being built in the late 1940's. The congregation was founded in 1850. My gr,gr grandparents (Andrew and Julia Ann Vick Shoffner) were also members there in the late 1860's until the Gum Springs CP Church was started where they became charter members. Both congregations are really small now. ---Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vicki or Rod Reynolds" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2002 1:30 PM Subject: Re: [ARWHITE] Old Churches, Schools & Bridges > Don't forget about the Cumberland Presbyterian Church located on Race St. > in Searcy built (the first one burned down) back in the middle 1800's. > They are still using it but relatives have informed me that the membership > has dwindled down to almost nil. 3. I am especially interested in the membership lists of churches in White County. I suspect the reason I am a Methodist is because my Mom was and I suspect that Her Mom must have been too <G> My grandmother was Mary Alice Jackson she was born 1859 Dec. 31 in Camden Benton Co. TN but her father moved the family to Romance Arkansas in White County about 1870. Her father was Able Richmond Jackson and was a merchant in Romance. Able R. Jackson was married to Martha Ann Moss a daughter of William Wells Moss. I think the Moss family or parts of it went to White Co . Grandma Jackson married when she was 16 to W. T. Patterson in White County. She had three daughters by him and he died of TB. She married W. A. Yoast who was her brother in law-- his wife who was Patterson's sister also died of TB. Mr Yoast soon died and they had no children together so my grandma went over to Faulkner Co. and married Hiram B. Love. Able R Jackson and Martha Moss Jackson had children William Andrew who married Mary Standfield, Mary Alice as mentioned above, Biddy Jane who I think died young and Thomas Wesley who lived to marry but I don't know who??? I have a mystery too. I have photos one is of Able R. Jackson with wife and my grandma as a little girl. It was written on so I know who it is. Then I have another photo from an Aunt of mine of Another Able R. Jackson also written on but this is a younger and different man. I think my grandma had another brother named Able R. Jr. I need proof of this or any information about any of these people or any church membership rolls showing any of them. Mary Harkey Russell [email protected]
