He served in the Phillipine/American War and moved to Texas where he is buried and then Louisiana where he died. He reportedly married Alice Lenora "Lola Mae" Stephens in Erath Co., TX. in 1903. Am seeking information on ASHLEY'S father, CONWAY BAKER. He is said to have died in White Co., AR. about 1909 (At least I cannot locate him in the 1910 census records! Nor is he found in cemetery records.)
Can someone please look up Jim Rice died 1943 in White county. Widow would have been China Rice perhaps Ella Valentine (sister) listed. Thanks in advance.
Looking for any and all information on this person.
Dear List Members, Here it is the first of July and I am late in sending you the Second Quarterly Report. I was in Maryland and Delaware enjoying three of my children their spouses and five of my grandchildren for the 4th of July. Due to the lateness of this report I am not going to send the individual numbers of members for each of the lists I take care of. It is an all day job. If any of you really want to know how many are on your list, just e-mail me at [email protected] and ask. Be sure and let me know what list you are asking about. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html If you ever need to unsubscribe from this list or any rootsweb list all you need to do is visit Password Central located at http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Follow the instructions and you will received an e-mail of all lists you belong to and from it you can unsubscribe from the ones you want to. Always know that I will be more than happy to help you if you are having problems unsubscribing, you only need to ask. Please send this request to [email protected] not to the entire list. If you would like to visit the Archived messages of this list, go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you would like to search and from there you can search by dates. There are a few items I would like to suggest for the benefit of each of us. 1. When sending a posting to the list it would help if you would put the subject of your posting in the subject line. Doing this also might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. Many members are on many many lists and when they see a subject line that reads "My Ancestors" they just delete it. 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. If you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. 3. Please remember to delete the tags and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 4. The wonderful relationship that develops between list members is also one of a Mailing Lists Problems. I encourage you to respond to the entire list with genealogical responses, you never know who your response will help. In the same thought I would like to ask you to not respond to the entire list with personal responses. Such as, the first message from a member says "Happy Birthday Mary" and then Mary says "Thank you and then about 60 of our members also send "Happy Birthday Mary". This is what I mean by personal messages. Just keep in mind anything is ok to be posted as long as it has to do with the subject of the list. I know there are exceptions to most rules including this one. If you have a doubt ask me. [email protected] 5. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. 6. Now the hardest thing is when one of our own, a fellow member becomes upset about a posting, something I have done or not done. It is so hard not to jump in and add our two cents. I want you to know how much I appreciate it when you just let these posting go by and delete them. Know that I am behind the scenes taking care of the problem. If you ever have a concern that I might have missed a message that needs addressed you are welcome to contact me during the day at [email protected] or in the evenings at [email protected] Please remember, so that this list is better for each of us, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc., in other words Spam is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me at [email protected] I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. It is your list and is here for your benefit. If you have suggestions or comments you would like in future reports, you only need to send them to me. Kathleen Burnett List Mom [email protected]

Your post is curious to me as my family the Mardis' lived in White County - in fact today received pictures of some headstones of Mardis' in the Coffeyville Cemetery. My grandfather was Thomas Jefferson (born 1867 in IL but the family moved to AR soon after. He married Henrie Louise Eggers Jan 2 1895 in Grand Glaze, Jackson Co., AR. while his brother Augustus married Cora Sanders on the same day. Have you heard of these names? Tommie Hosier
I am looking for information on Green Stephens. About all I know is that he was born in Jasper County, GA, Oct. 5, 1805 and died October 6, 1883. My records indicate that he died in White County, Arkansas. His wife, Margaret McRae died in Barbour County, Alabama, Feb. 11, 1856. She was born June 17, 1827, and I do not know where but it seems likely that it was in Barbour County, AL Records I have seem to indicate that Green Stephens was the father of several girls. One of these was Bell and she married Jim Hill. They had a daughter named Mozelle who was born about 1892 to 1895. She was a favorite of Alta Davis (May). Alta was born in Rose Bud, March 22, 1894. I have a copy of a letter JCR Davis (Alta's father) wrote 12-14-1893 in which he mentions 3 brothers-in-law who were dead. These (as listed in the letter) were Rube Brown, Brok Stewart and Charley Hill. He stated that Jim Hill was alive as well as was Jno. Arthur who married a lady named Eppie (or Essie). Any help on finding any of these individuals will be appreciated. I have lots of records on the Davis family but nothing on the sisters of my grandmother, Margaret Eugenia McRae Stephens. Please feel free to write me directly at [email protected] Milton Davis May Graduate of Rose Bud Arkansas High School, Class of 1949 I now live in the St. Louis, Missouri area.
