    2. I am researching Indian Removal in Arkansas. A party of Cherokee Indians came from Tennessee across Arkansas the winter of 1838/39. The journey ended at Vinyard January 7, 1839. Does anyone have any info on the history of Vineyard. I know Evansville is in that area. Is Evansville in the exact same location as Vineyard? The party purchased corn from John B. Carr on Jan 6, 1839. Does anyone know where John B Carr lived? Does any one have info on a road from Van Buren to Vineyard. Any help would be appreciated and I would be glad to share what I have thanks. Carolyn Yancey Kent

    3. There is a Vineyard in Lee County in the eastern side of Arkansas, in 1895 the population was listed as 23 with a post office and neither railroad or express office(found @ www.livgenmi.com/ataruv.htm ) And there is a Vineyard Township in Washington County Arkansas , which is in the northwest corner of the state. Evansville had a population of 306 in 1895 with a post office and no railroad and no express office.(www.livgenmi.com/WashingtonAr.htm ) There is a Vineyard Cemetery in Washington Co. that is listed on line. There were Cherokee settlers there ...at least one family, because my husband's great-grandparents settled there after a brief stop in Newton Co.(They were Samuel Joseph PRICE and Sarah Williams PRICE.) Hope this gives you some information and a starting place.
